At the densest section of the forest, there is a brief clearing where a steady flow of water streams down the slippery stone staircase. The water here is cool and refreshing. Staircase Falls has been rumoured to be the place where reality is met by magic; where peaceful spirits dwell. They are rumoured to have healing powers that are used to help the desperately hurt, though no one has experienced this, except for, perhaps, Kaive.

WHY DO YOU CRY WHEN YOU'RE FALLING ASLEEP?
IP: 50.53.175.236

Aleksander is somewhat worried at the moment. It's been hours, literal hours -- not the slow way of going time seems to have when he's thinking of Anstice -- since she's gone off to 'explore' as she so eloquently put it earlier today. Dusk is long gone, its enjoyable yellows and pinks and soft mango hues fading into darkness, a navy blue that might be mistaken for black. Alek takes deep breaths, his heart pounding relentlessly as he slides through the darkness in the lithe fashion reminiscent of a shadow, or a phantom. A very, very dark phantom. Thick dark fur ruffled casually, smoke-blue eyes flickering quietly through the trees, Aleksander searches for Anstice. He wonders where she's gone. His sister is so loud, reckless, but somehow manages to be more elusive than the frailest of field mice. He's looking for the blazing defiance of a young girl's amber eyes, flashes of russet and crimson and brown. Now is not the time for a pretty youth like her to be running around on her own. Alek has witnessed the horrors in this land.

Now he's questioning his decision to bring the two of them here. Perhaps it's safety from them, but then there's more to worry about now. He can't afford worry. A long sigh spilling from his lips, disturbing the silence he's built for himself, Alek pivots on his paws, breaking into a easy trot, stretching his aching legs as far as they'll go. Maybe if he works himself to exhaustion, he can stop worrying about her. Sometimes, Anstice with her trouble-making, rebellious ways can be a burden. Other times, he's not sure how he could go on without her. He could probably just leave her, find himself a mate, start a family, but no... that would bruise both his conscience and his heart.

The sound of slowly running water filters into his ears and he loses speed, ambling along with his head tipped into the air and ears pricked. Blue eyes searching, he deciphers the smell of earth and more wolves, although he's pretty sure the area will be barren this time of the night. Eyes narrowing, Alek treks through the trees, pushing his way through the tangle of underbrush and grimacing tightly when thorns catch into his flesh. He had been right -- there's no one here. At least, no one he can see. Being as large and muscular as he is, Alek is probably completely visible despite his ebony fur. A shiver ripples along his spine because he feels paranoia creep into him, but the boy refuses to show emotion. He's strong. He doesn't have emotion.

Setting his face hard, Alek decides to take advantage of the lack of occupants here and sinks himself near the running creek, staring into its murky ink depths, not acknowledging anything around him because why should he do that?

aleksander.
