your fairy tales of lies

The Ridge had become Claudia's home, she knew every jagged silhouette, the sound of the frequent wind had lulled her to sleep many a nights but, most importantly, she knew of any presence that didn't belong. It was like a nagging instinct in the back of her head, calling her to defend what was hers. The recent invasion upon her mountain side was no different and immediately her gait changed, calling the wind to bring her the scent of the figure she knew lingered just out of eyesight. Her mother may have her telepathy to help her know when visitors were afoot but Claudia had the wind itself to answer her calls. The young deity paused, her head outstretched as she cautiously sniffed the air. Was it Spidey returning from his quest? Perhaps Xol ready to renegotiate? It took her several moments to place that smell and the second she did a sense of relief filled her. This trespasser of hers was familiar and, more importantly, female. As much as Claudia would never admit it, she'd recently grown weary of the silly notions her recent testosterone filled followers had imposed upon her and a conversation with Tannis seemed to be exactly the sort of situation she'd enjoy.

The young girl took her time in arriving at the scene of the party, hardly concerned on leaving Tannis unattended. She might have only met the female twice but both times she had come across as being relatively trustful, if you bought that whole innocent enthusiastic thing she had going on. Such glee wasn't particularly Claudia's cup of tea but she willing to endure it for now. The moment she stepped within the vicinity of Tannis and her raccoon companion, another nagging sensation invaded her stomach. Fire was her magic as much as air, if not more so. Her bond with such ravenous flames was so strong that the magic of others often spoke of her, telling her of their master's faults and today that intangible affinity spoke volumes of Simon's lacking confidence with them. Sure, her conflagrations could go wild but as mischievous as they were, they also particularly appreciated a strong hand. They could be loyal with the right headstrong behavior and at the very least perhaps she could urge Simon in the right direction. Usually, Claudia was not so willing to depart her wisdom upon others without asking for some sort of price in return but she hardly expected Tannis to join her misfit bunch of followers either. Her gaze shifted towards the ivory masked female and in her silent speculations she could also tell that some of that usual merriment in the girl was lacking - how curious.

Claudia cleared her throat, pausing almost contemplative before she bothered to speak to the pair. "Your confidence is waning Simon, be firm with your affinity, don't let it control you. It's unruly because it senses your fear of it, caution has its place, certainly but fire needs a strong guiding hand to be happy." Her frigid gaze settled upon the axian, a judging sense to those dark eyes but she doesn't voice her opinions, instead her gaze flickers back towards the familiar female and idly she remarks in an almost sing song voice, "A cloud has finally blotted out the sun, hm?" She didn't actually anticipate either catching the reference and really the question was rhetorical and the young girl continued on, uninhibited, "Though I doubt this is why you've decided to seek me out, so what is it really Tannis?" Lately that seemed to be the question, 'what do you want of me'. Claudia was conceited enough that she felt others should come to her for her guidance, they should flock to her leadership but her little cult had fallen drastically short of her expectations. It was enough to leave her agitated and lately she'd had a rather short temper, not that she didn't most of the time anyways.
