Hi Linda,

Not sure where you are getting your information but it is misleading.

First of all straight evening primrose oil products do not add phytoestrogens. The hormonal properties from EPO comes from its effects on the endocrine system.

The main thing that has to watched for with EPO and some other fatty acid sources like borage seed, is that they are often extracted with the solvent hexane. And it is impossible to get all the hexane back out of the oil.

As for avoiding phytoestrogens I don't know why you would want to avoid them. Phytoestrogens help to balance the hormones and prevent hormonal associated diseases such as cancers, endometriosis, fibrocystic breasts, etc.

Its also about impossible to avoid them. Phytoestrogens are found in all the plants we eat. Onions, garlic, apples, yams, peas, seaweeds, broccoli, cabbage, pomegranates, peaches, grapes, cherries, etc. are all sources of phytoestrogens.
