At the densest section of the forest, there is a brief clearing where a steady flow of water streams down the slippery stone staircase. The water here is cool and refreshing. Staircase Falls has been rumoured to be the place where reality is met by magic; where peaceful spirits dwell. They are rumoured to have healing powers that are used to help the desperately hurt, though no one has experienced this, except for, perhaps, Kaive.

The ivory fae looked extremely uncomfortable around Mercer, but he didn't seem to notice until her frenzied pools darted to her surroundings and she finally jumped over a rock. It seemed quite risky to Mercer Frey, but the vixen looked so graceful, even with her bulging stomach, in flight. She stopped at the other end of the rock, opening up space for the ebony-hued brute to jump after her. Only, now it seemed to the male that she didn't want him to follow her -- anything but. So Mercer stayed put, only letting his icy orbs follow her over the rock. She muttered something from the other side of the boulder, and Mercer could barely make out her question of whether or not he was going to... what? Kill her? Such a thing had never even crossed the brujo's mind, and he surely wasn't about to consider it now.
"No," he said, taking a tiny step closer to the girl, "I'm not here to kill you. Why would I want to kill such a pretty face? Besides, there's no way in hell I would kill a pregnant lady." His tone was gentle, carressing. He was hoping to coax the valkyrie out from behind her stone, and so far, it wasn't working. Her feet stayed planted as he spoke. But maybe she would move soon. Maybe she was contemplating what Mercer had just said, and was about to step around the rock. Setting his stance to a relaxed sitting position, gently wagging his tail back and forth.
