At the densest section of the forest, there is a brief clearing where a steady flow of water streams down the slippery stone staircase. The water here is cool and refreshing. Staircase Falls has been rumoured to be the place where reality is met by magic; where peaceful spirits dwell. They are rumoured to have healing powers that are used to help the desperately hurt, though no one has experienced this, except for, perhaps, Kaive.

He was really in deep now, no way he could just stand up, shake his ashen pelt and walk off. It was a shame he couldn’t, this fae just seemed like a total basket case, but it was also giving him quite the bit of amusement so he decided he could afford to stick around a little longer. At his last statement the femora seemed quite shocked, as if she had never encountered such a sarcastic bastard such as himself. That, or she just wasn’t expecting something like that to come out of him. Whatever the case may be, she seemed distressed, glancing at him and growling, mumbling something under her breath, but all he could catch of the words was brother. Well, o-kay then. Still, she returned her stare to his façade, a defiant passion ignited him her pools, looking surprisingly fitting on the multi-hued stranger. She bit off a string of harsh lyrics, proclaiming herself better than him and refusing to say what he had asked. Well, of course he didn’t expect her to actually say it; no wolf is that stupid or that literal. At least he hoped not. Still, after she had spoken the words she seemed deflated, annoyed, remorseful. Strange. Rhundus flicked a silver aud, unsure of what she was trying to do, seeing as that she was having so many mood swings. Then the mistress utterly and completely surprised the hessian, agreeing to utter the lyrics and following through with the question. His azure pools widened slightly. Was she mad? She seemed almost… sane, sad, respectful, calm. Was his title really important to her; he was just some stranger found beneath the shade of the same tree? Shying back slightly, Rhundus tried to keep the mood positive, not wanting this to go all sappy. Barf.

“Wow, impressive, I must say. The names Rhundus, princess,” he replied, trying to keep a fake smirk plastered on his kissers. He fully expected some adverse reaction, almost wanted one at this point, but the fae didn’t answer, just kept staring at her paws. Damn. Unease spread through the air like mold, infecting his lungs and making the brute want to retreat back to the safety of his new borders. Then she did her second shocking event of the afternoon, driving the pale hessian to his fores, taken aback. Had she just… apologized? For what, her actions? If Rhundus had to do that he wouldn’t ever be able to shut up. Still, her words felt sincere, and he finally found out why she had muttered something about her brother earlier, as he apparently reminded him of him. But suddenly, the tension of the moment was broken when she totally sucked up to him, batting her eyelashes like they were some sort of dying butterfly hot glued onto her eyeballs. Rhundus tried without success to hold in the first snort of laughter, but then he just let the deep laughs roll out, harsh in the quiet atmosphere, although it got rid of that cheesy sappy mood that had suddenly sprung up. Letting his chuckled subside, he shifted on his paws before grinning at her, offering a reply to her apology question.

“Sure princess, I’ll ‘forgive’ you, as long as you promise to never talk or act like that again.” Another snort escaped as the sight of her once again flashed through his retinas. “I swear I felt bile in the back of my throat…” he teased. Sure, he was being nice and forgiving now, but Rhundus was still wary. No fae, it didn’t matter how screwed up they were, just changed like that, mood swing or no mood swing. It wasn’t natural, to one second be hating someone and then the next kissing up to them like they were your long lost sibling. If she expected him to shower her with reassurance and affection, she would be horribly mistaken. Even though he laughed at her and played along, a slight sense of apprehension worked its way into the back of his gut, making it feel cold as winter stones. No, these were always the dangerous ones. And while Rhundus was no weakling and could easily overcome anything this fatale wanted to throw at him, it still didn’t change the fact that she had warmed up to him, a total stranger, so quickly. He didn’t need any friends like that, period.

[OOC: Wow, crappy short post. Sorry 'bout that.]
