Tinypic

A light melody rings from my kissers as I laugh at his reaction. He rose from the water, flailing towards the edge like am awkward fish. At first it was funny but when he insists on staying put I frown slightly. I begin to swim in a circle, my mind going back to when my head touched his earlier. It was like a shock and I am still stunned from the reaction I gained from it. It was unjust actually. I was so average, so plain. Even my coat seemed to match everyone else’s I had left the pack meeting earlier from disappointment at the lack of uniqueness I presumed I had. The pack life wasn’t for me anyways. I thought I could use some company but in reality, being there with all those wolves had caused me to feel trapped. I enjoyed Knyghte’s company. Unlike feeling trapped I felt free.

The water’s fingers had untangled my knots and cleansed the smell of others from my pelt. My natural scent reached my nose and I smiled, feeling like my old self again. What was that though? His scent was mingled in my masterpiece even though I had been in this water for some time now. To feel the extremities of his aroma dance through my fur was startling. He was on the side of the small pool but then he suddenly disappeared. When would I ever get used to his silent ways? H2O attacked my bodice and face as his form came crashing beside me. I could feel water enter my nares and I sputtered slightly, embarrassed by the filths that flew form my nostrils. I narrowed my eyes and then stilled as he bumped my neck gently. A zap of emotion locked onto me and I shivered from his whispered words.

Slowly, I turn my wet muzzle towards him, looking at him as water dripped from my facial fur, creating soft taps against the water’s body. Then, he was gone again. I felt a small emptiness at the distance but I simply smiled, sharp canines peeking out from under light kissers. “Well now that I am officially soaked, where to?” I catch sight of him helping himself from the water easily. His muscles rippled under his coat and I simply stared for a moment, my oceanic portals never blinking. When he turned to face me, I felt my body grow warm in a small blush. Slowly I made my way to him, locking my powerful jaws onto his scruff gently as I also hoisted myself up.

Once up on the dirt. I shook out my masterpiece, spraying water on the walls and any other unsuspecting victims. I faced him, once again held in a trance by his gaze. But it was turned elsewhere, to the glowing figures by the water. I totally forgot about the strange creatures. I padded over there, distracted for a moment as I sniffed at them curiously. A smell of rot filled my nose and I wrinkled it in disgust, lifting my head instantly. A tickle played in my nostrils and I sneezed. My stargazers shift back to him and he’s smiling at me. I can’t help but smile back. His smile makes me want to follow him to the ends of the earth and back. Weird.

“How can it get any better than this? What other surprises are you hiding from me brute?” I tilt my head slightly. My small paws create light, echoing footfalls as I near him. I sit beside him, curling my tassel around my light appendages in instinct. I watch him for a moment, my audits perked and my eyes unwavering. “Why me?” The words were not meant to come out. They were hushed to the point where no mere wolf could hear them. Then again, Knyghte was no mere wolf. I lowered my head and stared at my paws, my ordinary, boring paws. Many ‘what ifs’ entered my mind and bothered me greatly.

My skull rose and I lifted my hind off of the cave floor. Shifting my stance, I made my way to the wall. I avoided looing in his direction, focusing my intent on the foul smelling glow. “Lead the way.” I was attempting to change conversation if he had heard me. Half of me wanted to succeed in this act but the other half wanted me to fail. I lay my ears flat against my cranium as I closed my eyes, taking a light breath and holding it for a while. Then I would release and repeat the process. The action was to cause my nerves, sort of like meditation. Once I was calm, I kept my eyes closed and breathed in his scent while listening to his heartbeat. That worked better than the breath trick.
