I WANT YOU TO REMEMBER THIS

Tristan!” His tone met his friends equally surprised one followed by a small yip from Era. To be honest, Grayson had not expected him for a bit longer and took to taking bits of hay and tying them in little knots. Brushing the multiple tied pieces off his lap he stood up. Era immediately climbed down waging her bushy bluish tail and hopped towards Tristan and licked his hand once before yipping again and turned back to circle her fairy.

Grayson’s pale blue-green eyes met Tristan’s and a smile began to curve up his lips. “It has, my sisters had me all cooped up with her at Nimmy’s.” Besides his outdoor experiences It was the truth. Saffron was teaching him how to read and what a teacher she was. She would never let him leave her room no matter how frustrated he became. She would push his shoulders back down to plant his butt back in the seat in front of her desk and often times point desperately at the words that were scribbled in a book and make him try again. Grayson wasn’t one to like to just sit there and stare at the pages mindlessly reading things that people could tell him. Even after a long day he would plead with her to come outside with him and she would politely say no before turning him out, but never before telling him when he needed to be back for his next lesson.

Yes, Nimmy went to find your dad I think.” For a moment he ruffled his already tossed auburn hair as a sheepish grin replaced his excited smile. Honestly, he didn’t quite remember the reason for the trip, he had just been too caught up in excitement that she invited him along so he could see Tristan. Era watched as Tristan’s big green familiar slipped inside jumping back to her feet she greeted him like a pup (because she really was one) and began licking the corner of his mouth before stopping at the stern look she felt boring into the back of her head from Grayson. Slipping her ears against her skull she settled next to Cel lazily remembering only then that she was still quite tired.

To say Grayson’s eyes didn’t light up at the mention of training would have been an understatement. Don’t get the boy wrong, Grayson wasn’t jealous; he knew life dealt him his cards and he was going to do all he could with the hand he got. But he couldn’t help but feel that slight tug at his heart at the mention of such things. He knew one day he would become an expert swordsman, he just had to wait till the opportunity came knocking or he was old enough to go find it. “what did you learn today Tris? Anything interesting?” He said with eager ears. But it wasn’t until Tristan unstrapped his belt and began to hand it to him that he really could hardly contain his excitement. Surely to Tristan he would of just looked like a wide eye, nearly jaw dropped by but on the inside his was giddy like a little school girl playing in a vast field of wildflowers. “o-ok” he said as he turned and found the hook in which his friend spoke of and hung it as he assumed it was supposed to be hung. His smile had spread now, as Tristan asked for his help. Nearly stumbling over his feet to get to him he went to his friend’s aid and began helping him take his amour off. “Tris, tell me what it’s like..” he began steadily, “I mean I’ve used a small dagger before, and don’t tell anyone about that because Nimmy would kill me.” He laughed lightly continuing to help his friend as he talked, “tell me, what’s it like to actually train to use it. Obviously it’s exhausting work but is it still fun?” Of course, like any child his age, fun always had to be in the mix somehow.
