At the densest section of the forest, there is a brief clearing where a steady flow of water streams down the slippery stone staircase. The water here is cool and refreshing. Staircase Falls has been rumoured to be the place where reality is met by magic; where peaceful spirits dwell. They are rumoured to have healing powers that are used to help the desperately hurt, though no one has experienced this, except for, perhaps, Kaive.

Her snort at his statement caused him to laugh again. At least she was getting more out there. He watched as she began to wash away the cerise from her muzzle. He didn’t mean to but he was staring. Actually he was calculating how long before she would be better, before they could actually enjoy a swim. It wouldn’t be long and yet it would be. It was no matter, Kenai would wait, and he would wait for her till the end of time. Seeing that his look was causing unrest, he waded to the shallows and got footing. When he turned back to face her, she was making a hasty retreat to the shore. She hid it so well, her pain and suffering. Kenai could see it though; he could see it and feel it. He followed her slowly, remaining silent. As she shook her pelt he shook his, little drops of water flickering about. Her fragility caused an ache inside him.

He simply watched her find a nice sunny spot on the shore. The last of the sun’s rays had begun their dusk dance on her white fur causing colors to flash over her pelt. He let a smile slide into his orifices. She still hadn’t answered his question and he worried she would decline it. He didn’t want to leave her here, actually, he didn’t want to leave her at all. The semi-blind hessian was in it deep and he didn’t care to dig himself out. Slowly, he made his way to her, his large paws soundless against the earth’s face. As he reached her, he sat before her, his eyes never moving from her. Her reply was hushed and the worry that had crossed his features instantly disappeared. So she wanted him to stay as well. That was fine with him. At first her words were strong but then she started stuttering and trailing off. The action was cute and he wanted to laugh but she looked so embarrassed that he remained quiet.

Then she was trying to move the deer, not making any progress to say. He furrowed what brows he had and lowered his face to her own, causing her to pause in her actions. He nudged her cheek gently, softly moving her head aside. “I can handle this. Rest is what you need.” His gaze was soft as he locked his powerful jaws onto the deer’s flank. Taking a deep breath, he tugged, pulling the deer a good few feet. The pain instantly entered his shoulder and he bit down harder, hiding it from the weak femme. She had enough on her plate that she shouldn’t have to worry about his shoulder. So he pulled the deer farther away, beyond the falls and behind a thick oak. Predators would be out looking for meat and they didn’t need to be next on their list. Blocked from view, the tired male paused, taking a deep breath yet again. It would be pointless to lick his shoulder for it was an inner wound. Most likely, his bone was fractured at the worse.

He returned to Dye and the other deer and gave her a weary smile. The other deer seemed to have been moved and he shook his head slightly. Most likely the stubborn lass had tried to move it again. He made his way to the deer and locked on again, repeating his earlier actions. Once he returned, he couldn’t hide the limp that had begun to appear. Still, the tired brute gave her a reassuring smile. Lowering himself to the ground by her, he shifted his weight to the side again, the pain throbbing all over now. He was silent as he lowered his head to his paws. “I’ll stay up pretty late tonight. I couldn’t sleep if I tried.” The words were to show her that he would guard her as she slept. They were to tell her that as long as she was with him, she’d be safe.

Ooc: No prob! Mine sucks anyways!
