aurora borealis- noun plural: An aurora that occurs in northern regions of the earth. Also called northern lights.

In the middle of a dense forest of coniferous trees lies the Aurora Borealis pack, its name coming from its location. At certain times of the year, the northern lights appear, dancing almost magically in the sky. A narrow trail leads you through the close evergreens. Giving into temptation, you begin moving your paws. By venturing into this territory, you are venturing into a land belonging to a pair of feared leaders. You have heard rumors of them...but you decide to take your chances and hope that the tales of blood and death are merely fabricated stories to scare wolves.

You have walked nearly five minutes before you realize the sound of paws stepping somewhere from behind. Deciding that you've made a mistake, you quickly turn around, but find that you cannot go any further. Standing before you is one of the mighty kings you've heard of. His blood red pelt clings over perfectly toned bands of muscle. But that isn't what causes such fear in your veins. One of his amber eyes has a horrid, bleeding scar across it, and his good eye seems to stare right through you. His face is expressionless, giving off none of his intentions. You cower away as his jaws part.

"I'm Hell Demon."

His voice was deep and cut through the air like a hot knife through butter. Right where he left off, another voice picks up from behind you. You whirl around and find yourself facing another male with steely muscles beneath his pelt, which seems to consist of every shade of brown. He had startled you, and you're amazed how you hadn't at all detected his approach.

"And I am Ghost...we're the alphas of Aurora Borealis."

His deep voice was laced thickly with a Native American accent. His own golden eyes are directing a harsh glare your way. Now you're caught in the middle...your breathing has become heavy in your panic and you're not sure which to face.

"You've foolishly trespassed into our territory. You face the one called Hell Demon's whose voice is once more addressing you. Get out, or become a corpse along our border."

It's obvious they mean business. So now it's up to you...take your chances and stay, or heed their warning and waste no time getting out with your life.

Vela had returned with everyone from the hunt quite awhile ago. They had brought a kill back with them, one that would be big enough to feed the pack for a little while. Upon arrival, she had learned about the attack on Akina and the pups from her adopted offspring. Initial shock became placed with sadness and anger. The ebony she wolf even felt anger towards herself for not being here to help. Poor Akina, and she noticed how Sin’s scent had become stale. It seemed the alphess was dealing with her own grief by herself, and Vela found herself wondering if she should search Akina out. For awhile she had looked, but the lass didn’t have much luck in doing so. In all honesty she had just wanted to go after the assholes that had hurt her family and pack, but she didn’t and the only reason was she had a little sense left in her rage. Sin would tell them what to do, for now she would protect the pack, and not let her friends down again. There didn’t seem to be a lot of activity from the other wolves. Alert she had been, but away from the loners calling at the borders, her anger over intruders hurting those she loved wouldn’t do those strangers any good. She might have bitten their heads off as much as welcome them in, thinking that they might be here to hurt the pack like the intruders. She knew the feeling and worry would go, but for now she decided it would be best to just watch from the sidelines. The Iota simply watched from the darkness as Saydin and Mimic greeted the only loner that had come. Talia and King Kong had been scented on the wind nearby as well, but she continued on her solitude path. Right now there were only two goddesses she wished to see and speak to. Akina and Sin, her closest friends, were they alright?

Right now she was just roaming the lands she called home, not going anywhere particular really, just switching between the border area and further in the territory. That’s when she just happened upon Sin’s scent, a some what fresh one at least. The Queen was back, at least that’s what she hoped. Vela didn’t try to search her friend out this time, Sin would find her if she wanted her company. It wasn’t that long before a powerful howl rolled in the sky as Sin called a pack meeting. Vela was quick in responding, her shadow colored pillars eating up ground at a fast pace. Now she could see her friends and pack member, perhaps with all of them together something could happen, like make the Aurora Borealis Pack strong once again. Would Akina show up, or was the loss of her little ones still too fresh? The though of her friend hurt, brought her sadness, along with the though of the lost little ones.

As she arrived, she could detect the scent of Sin, Xena, Hecate, Jasper, and Wicca. It caused her to wonder where Sin and Mimic were, and she hoped the new found siblings were getting along. Perhaps she should try to speak with the returned members, get to know them. Saydin had told her they were friendly and that she liked them. That had lifted the demoness spirit a little, she was glad the quiet ess she helped raise was reuniting with her family. Mimic, too, the lad seemed to only stick with Saydin, maybe now they would hang out with more wolves. They were already pretty much grown, and the Iota still worried over them like they were pups. Her gaze went first to Sin when she entered the clearing, wondering how she was holding her grief. The alphess just stood, holding herself high and proud, yet no real emotion seemed to be there. Vela knew Sin well enough to know it was a façade, but she was trying to remain strong before her pack. Vela admired her friend for that. She wondered how Sin’s pups were doing, and when she would be able to see the little ones, for she only knew of the loss of Akinas’. Approaching her alphess, she bowed her head out of respect and greeting to her friend before settling near the base of the rock. With the recent intruders, Vela was being cautious and protective of her friend and alpha. She saw Saydin and Mimic familiar forms enter the clearing to head straight to where Xena, Hecate, Jasper, and Wicca had left them space. Hazel soul gates even caught Saydin leaning in to offer Xena and Hecate a muzzle rub for greeting. Mimic greeted his siblings with a nod and a smile, and she couldn’t help but remember when the two were pups hiding under her stilts. In silence she waited for more members to show or for Sin to speak something now.

I always faded in the background. Never was meant to survive in this life. This world never gave me a break. I was always like an outcast, so I'll forever be...~Creeping In The Shadows~
