The Rules
  • There will be no fraternizing with enemies. If you put yourself knowingly in danger, don't expect a rescue.
  • We are only as strong as our weakest link. See to it that you are getting stronger in some skill that is useful, whether it is battling, recruiting, charming, etc.
  • The King and Queen have final say in all matters.
The devil is in the details

Some sort of commotion had attracted the attention and presence of several horses near the border of the Desert, Encantador among them. The group had been comprised primarily of stallions but there had been a mare with them, one whom El Aran had not recognized. Disappointment had anchored itself inside her chest, settling like a weight beneath her heart. The seer missed her sister. Skirting the group at a wide distance, the black mare had made her way across the gritty sands and walked beneath the eye of the sun.

Occupied by her thoughts, El Aran had walked for a long time. Now she was headed back toward the main oasis, her dark eyes passing across her surroundings. A roll in the pool sounded pleasant, provided there was still enough water sitting in it to slake the thirst of the herds. Her blacks legs were dusty and she could feel grit between the hairs of her coat. She tossed her head and exhaled abruptly. Maybe later Encantador would be willing to groom her. That would provide an opportunity to bring up Dany, something she’d been meaning to ask him about.

Pulling herself out of her musings, the black mare plodded onward toward a dark shape in the distance. As she neared, the shadow took form of a horse. Pausing to glance behind her, El Aran made a point of sweeping her eyes slowly over the desert before looking forward again. The horse was still there, and it did not waver. Satisfied it was not a vengeful spirit welling from the hot ground, the seer continued forward. She recognized the mare as the one who had been at the border with the stallions, and her ears pushed forward in interest.

"You were with the stallions," she said by way of greeting, coming to a halt and extending her neck to exchange courteous breaths with the mare. Her newfound companion looked tense. "Did Encantador bring you here?"
