Though it remained the same physically, the Vale seemed changed. Perhaps it was her absence or the general state of things that told Tannis that her time was up. She was grown now, a proper mare with an axian that could no longer take several shapes. Her parents had seen her through her youth and she was all on her own to have it continue. She kept all plans and ideas of a new place to live hidden from her parents and brother, not wanting to worry or concern them. They were in the process of healing wounded relationships and Tannis did not want to break what was being built by telling her family of her eventual permanent absence from the Vale. She would let them know when the time was right, and it was not right now.
Tannis first needed to find a place to call home, a proper herd that was not her father's. She knew the names of the neighboring lands but knew very little aside from that. After spending a day with her mother, Tannis pulled Simon from the Vale, much to his protests. The two recall passing the Cliffs the day they had visisted Claudia and thought it might be a good place to start. Tannis thought she recalled hearing that a mare led this herd and she wondered if she might fit in there.
The summer sun begins to set, the sky bright with colours, a haze of purple, pink, and orange. Tannis smiled as she basked in the colours, the warm evening wind playing with her mane and tail. Simon too got the odd ruffle of his brownish grey coat. As the colours deepen and the world grows darker they approach the rough borders of the Cliffs. A light blossoms in the space in front of her, then several more until the place seemed to glow with the same etheral light that the Vale frequented. "Look Simon, the magic lights like at home," she announced, pressing further into the lands of the Cliffs, grinning as she became more submerged in the twinkling lights.
"How many times must I tell you Tannis, they're bugs," Simon said with a bit of a sigh, recalling the many times that he had to remind Tannis of the simple fact. "Bugs or not Simon, they're still magic.." She said, snorting in his direction as she continued to move through the cloud of lightning bugs.
