The she wolves mouth twitched at Fang's remark about swimming. "No, I don't think they are." she agreed. "I seem to remember being morbidly afraid of the water when I was very young indeed." That was before she realised there were much, much worse things to fear. Not to mention more painful ways to die. Drowning wouldn't be so bad.

Torment's thoughts were running along the same tracks as Fang's- namely, that being difficult to reach would be an advantage. There might be some difficulties with food supplies in the winter season, but nothing too big- with three healthy, blessing-equipped wolves, not to mention Rezurrection and Narcissa, finding prey shouldn't be too difficult even in the grip of winter.

"Should we set off now, then?" Torment asked. There seemed little point in wasting time- they'd need to find a good den at the Mountain, and complete any renovations that might be necessary. Also, it might be tricky for Decoy and Narcissa to track them down if they were on the move, and she wanted them to arrive in plenty of time.

She wondered what the future held. So many different paths depended on the next moon or so. They might even end here. That didn't matter. Torment wasn't afraid, she knew that- if she died giving birth, it would be for a better cause than falling in any battle. And her children would be well looked after, in any case... But that wouldn't happen. It couldn't. Torment wanted to live to see her children grow up, until her bones ached and there were grey hairs on her muzzle. She smiled as she glanced at her mate. The thought of Fang being old was a strange one- she just couldn't picture it.
