i'll sing it one last time for you

She eyes him uncertainly at his sudden outburst, and freezes in place, as though waiting for him to elaborate. He seems to compose himself then, and she relaxes a little, though her careful gaze does not waver from his chestnut face. When he speaks again, his countenance is more friendly and his words are more thoughtfully chosen, but Isoke remembers the smooth lines of Dorian all those months ago, and the way he had attempted to ensnare her first verbally, then physically.

Dante doesn't look anywhere near as threatening or suspicious as Dorian had been, but Isoke can never be too careful. She is not keen to repeat that bad experience.

She does manage a small, shy smile at his joke, though it is procured more out of politeness than anything, and doesn't meet her eyes. She averts her gaze briefly, letting her dark forelock obscure her face as she dips her nose downwards in a modest manner. She is glad when he finally turns the conversation in a direction that she knows how to deal with and meets his eyes again, a little more confident even if she is considering giving him a fake name.

"Isoke. Thank you, Dante... I've just come from the harbor and had no place else to go. Anawar's gone and a new stallion's taken over..." She trails off, biting her lip when she realizes she may have given away too much.
