Re(1): Lichen Sclerosus

Hi Julie,

The exact cause of lichen sclerosis is unknown. It is believed to possibly involve autoimmunity, infection and/or hormonal changes.

Treatment often involves the use of steroids or estrogen creams. If you want to go more natural you could make a concentrated extract of licorice root, which has both properties to apply to the area. The easiest way would be to boil the root for 20 minutes to make a strong tea then simmer it down to a concentrate. I would then add 2 ounces each of cocoa butter and avocado oil with 1/32 of a teaspoon of citric acid to adjust the pH back to a slightly acidic pH. Skin should be slightly acidic to keep them healthy. Simmer the mix until the rest of the water is gone then pour in to a container and let it cool and harden. Then seal the container and keep it closed when not in use.

I recommend applying a dab of the mix 3 times daily. How long it will take varies. Some people respond to regular treatments in weeks and others can take 8 months or more.

Working on your adrenals would be a good idea as well in case it is autoimmune.
