Assignment 37: Anticipation Guide Parts 1 and 2, Of Mice and Men
I disagree that when people are a victim of a crime, they should be able to take the law into their own hands. For example, in the beginning of Spiderman, Peter Parker lets a robber escape from the authorities. Peter Parker a.k.a Spiderman, then, has to go after that same man because the robber steals his Uncle Ben’s and kills his uncle. Peter takes the law into his own hands and kills the robber. In the end, he feels guilty about killing the man who killed his uncle and the police do not like for this. If Spiderman would have just let the police take care of the robber, he would have not have that “blood” on his hands. In the recent movie of the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles, Raphael takes the law into his own hands and becomes an enemy of the police force. When people start to take the law into their own hands, it results into more people being killed, crime rates rising, and the justice system becoming corrupt. For example, if someone steals a pack of gum, the superhero or valiant catches the person and kills him of her. This valiant has no right to judge or kill this thief even if the person murdered many people. If this valiant does take the crimes into their hands, they become the enemy of the people and have no right to judge the people who do the crime. The court system and the jury have that right to judge this person if he or she is guilty or not.
