Paradise Beach

The Paradise Beach herdland is prime beachfront property for that horse who needs a defensible, tropical paradise to call home. It consists of a long beach that runs from the Heaven’s Gate’s herself out towards the sea. The hind end is forest, but much of it consists of beach dunes and the plants that thrive in that environment. The beach runs up to the mainland portion of Island Resort.

One never knew how long their life would be, unless, of course, they were immortal. But immortality seemed an almost fearful, dreadful thing for Sky. To live forever and know that all of your loved ones were to die before you regardless of their age difference was something the blue roan didn't even want to play with or talk about. To see the flowers bloom and then wilt countless times until it seems they'll never stop is something Sky cannot even begin to comprehend. Then again, she chooses not to. If she had the choice to either gain wings, a horn, or immortality she'd probably choose the horn. That way she will be able to grow old with her children and she'd be at the same pace as them. For if she chose wings, she'd never use them, staying with her children no matter what. Bringing it around to her children, the blue roan often thought and worried about her son, Ranger, who had gone off with Mentor. At first the mare had figured Mentor was just teaching him the ropes and such but it seemed Ranger had decided to follow his father under all circumstances. Would that mean if Mentor was killed would Ranger still stay beside his father's fallen body? Again, that brings the conversation around to life. It was obvious Holly was being drained of it, something that caused the frantic mother to shift her weight and flick her ears in anxiety. Surely her daughter would die if she was not treated immediately.

So when the mare who introduced herself as Baylor offered the sea as a healing, the blue mare took the offer, turning back to Holly and helping her other daughter lead the weakening young mare over to the waves. They lead her in enough so she couldn't be carried off by the currents and set her down, their shoulders holding her face above the water but letting her neck drop in. Sky was still worried, so she turned back to Baylor. "Are you sure this will work?" she asked, her brown eyes hopeful and fearful at the same moment. Then she registered Baylor's other question. "Well, a disaster happened at our home, Wildflower Plateau, and so we came here. I was Areo's second mare he collected, Heart Thief being his first," she explains.
---
Her mind is only half-aware of what's going on, but she forces her legs to move, making feeble, weak attempts at walking. Thanks to her mother and half-sister for helping her to reach the waters! She can already feel the salt in the water soothing and cleansing her wound, carrying the dried and fresh blood out to sea on the current. A small sigh escapes her lips, relief clear in her weak words. "Oh, thank you..." She is, of course, talking to Baylor; she'd at least heard the part about the ocean and how it helped those needing it.

Sky-blue roan
Holly-silver bay roan

Dear Reader,

My blue eyes are grateful as my mother helps me carry Holly into the lapping waves of the ocean. I had and always will love the ocean. Even as a young filly I'd loved the sound of the waves crashing gently on the sand at nighttime, luring me to sleep just as easily as my momma's lullabies. Now, as I'm older, I experience it even more. Now I know what things are called--birds, crabs, shells, sand, air, sky, water, froth, and such.

I could see the little spurts of chemicals running back and forth between Baylor and Alexandros--more so from Baylor then from my half-brother, but he was still there also, just not as strong. A small smile flits over my face, knowing Alexandros was quite over the age of finding love. Baylor must be the one--especially since she is technically the only mare here that isn't a part of our family.

I quickly hide my smile, but my deep blue pools still give of a knowing look toward the two. Then, I speak to my brother. So, brother, have any girls chasing after you yet? Or are you just waiting for the perfect one? To everyone but Alexandros and Baylor, it might seem just small talk, but again that knowing look was on my face. I know love when I see it.

Yours Forever, Heart Song

Obviously Areo wasn't the only who had spotted the friction between his son and his new mare. He also smiled at Song's words, knowing what she was getting at. He'd followed them down the shore, his hooves sturdily pounding against the turf and kicking up little spurts of sand. He'd walked alongside Heart, his black skin close to hers. Oh how he'd missed her! Even though she was in a different body--though it was the same color--she was the same person; loyal, protecting, loving, everything.

He stood next to her, a worried expression crossing his face. Though Holly wasn't of his breeding she still seemed like family to him. ”Baylor, how does the sea help Holly?” he asked curiously, peering at the golden-eyed girl as she let out a tiny sigh of relief. The ocean must be working at least enough to suck some of the pain out of the girl's wound, right?
