Carden Alvar Nature Board by Bob Bowlespine siskins


this morning was inordinately noisy at my place given that the red-winged blackbirds have left the feeders thanks to this warmer weather.

so why was it so noisy? the noise seemed to be coming from the finch section of the bird population. eventually i discovered the source: two pine siskin fledglings begging for food. and up a little higher in the tree was a second siskin family also begging for food. despite their small size, siskin fledglings can make a whole lot of noise.
