Are we talking only agenda items or just talking to Jim or other board members about ideas? I've found Jim and Carol to be very approachable. Ideas can be discussed on the phone too.

In my experience, it works well to flesh out the idea well before sending it in to be put on the agenda. Dialog first works.

Yes, there are members that are not online, but that doesn't mean that those of us that are online can't discuss and refine ideas, before asking that they be put on the agenda. Working with a group means that it's more likely someone from that group can attend a meeting when the idea is ready to present. That way a person familiar with the idea can answer questions on the topic.

I can think of two changes I worked on that were handled this way, the frozen semen rules and the FOSH SM breed standards that were added to their show rules. Both were worked on with a small group online first. Then we talked with board members. Yes, I ended up going to a meeting to discuss them. The frozen semen rule was important enough to me to do that.
