Ah, rural life!
Yesterday evening, while I was checking to see if the raccoon that has been raiding my bird feeders had returned, I was rather surprised to see instead a black bear.

For those of you who have been to my place, you know how close the feeders are to the house. The bear sniffed around and then took a step up onto the porch by my front door.

I managed to scare it away and it took off running to the back of the house.
