Re(1): probiotics not helpful
IP: 68.227.21.80

Hi JC,

The title is misleading since first of all it states probiotics. But it is testing only one strain of probiotic bacteria out of the several thousand beneficial strains that inhabit the human body.

This stain has been shown to increase immunity through increased natural killr (NK) cell activity, but this is only one component of the immune system. The elderly are often more prone to immune suppression for a variety of reasons including nutritional deficiencies, which are common in nursing home facilities.

So there are other factors to consider. Saying that one strain of bacteria will not help is like saying vitamin C will not support the immune system when tested in people with bone marrow damage leading to a loss of white blood cells.
