Misty Mountain is opposite of Rainbow Cliff. Mists hover year-round at this high altitude, mistaken by some to be thin clouds. Thin layers of snow cover the mountain, making some areas slippery and hazardous.

The run back toward the den was hard. Sheeting rain dampened the top of the clay soil and made it slick. More then once, Rinoa skidded on the half soaked ground, but she kept a death grip on the fawn and fought step by step toward the dry den. She soon found herself standing in just in the opening and dropping the fawn with a sigh of relief.

The dark wolfess smiled to herself, she had been so lucky to happen upon the dead fawn! Now she would have a fantastic meal. Suddenly Rinoa’s sensitive nose caught a familiar musky scent and she raised her eyes to find Azure Sky looking right back.

She froze, would he be angry? Would he order her to leave like he had so many times before? Then he looked away and she saw pain in his posture. She padded her way to his side on graceful paws and bent to sniff him carefully. “Azure, are you ok? What happened?”

Her quick nose located the source of his pain. Her mis-matched eyes found his and she returned to the fawn. “Are you hungry? I found this fawn; I think his mother drove off whatever killed it.”

Her mind raced with the possibilities. Azure wouldn’t be able to hunt for himself and so he would beg her for help. She would tease him about it for a little and ultimately give in. Then they would live together for a time and pups would follow next spring. She smiled kindly and nosed the fawn closer to him.
