Sometimes (once in a blue moon?) CFC 'officials' do an informal poll on the CFC's public discussion board, where anyone who has registered in can respond. I tend to do my own informal polls on chesstalk simply because something like three times as many people are registered there.
For those who receive the CFC's email newsletter, the President occasionally attaches his own message, but I'm not sure if there was ever an 'official' CFC members' poll done this way. One such poll is being contemplated for the future, perhaps to refer CFC members to the CFC's Discussion Board to answer a poll question(s).
A benefit to having a CFC server would simply be if it increases membership enough to at least pay for itself. However, one CFC Governor pointed out to me in a different chesstalk thread that WCN spends plenty of capital just to keep their server going, and so cost would be more than a matter of initially paying for the server software, and our options may need to be investigated.
Don't know how much it costs to 'set up shop' at chess dot com, but one would think that the CFC exec or the officer of publicity would have already thought of that. Maybe not a safe assumption. :) Replies:
