At the densest section of the forest, there is a brief clearing where a steady flow of water streams down the slippery stone staircase. The water here is cool and refreshing. Staircase Falls has been rumoured to be the place where reality is met by magic; where peaceful spirits dwell. They are rumoured to have healing powers that are used to help the desperately hurt, though no one has experienced this, except for, perhaps, Kaive.

The pack meeting hadn’t gone 100% like Keyna expected. She was given attention by Moth, who seemed to be the only one to see her sadness when she showed it, but no more than that. Lucas had given her an apologetic smile, and Keyna knew he sort of regretted taking Nova’s side in the little argument. Besides, no one really knew Keyna. Except… No. He was gone. Kouga was lost in the abyss of some insanity, never to be found again. There was no one else like him. At all. Before he disappeared off of the face of the planet, though, he had told Keyna that she was like a sister to him. That’s good enough, right? Keyna pondered her choices in life as she slipped out of the meeting without notice. Throwing a depressed glance back at Moth, if she even saw it, Keyna went to the place where her and Kouga’s sibling-like relationship really hit off. Staircase Falls.
She arrived shortly, following the smell of newly fallen rain and the sound of the water, rushing faster and higher than usual. Observing from a bush at first (heaven knows why), Keyna noticed that there was someone else there already. Dammit. More conversation. Slipping out of the bush, Keyna climbed the hill beside the rocks up to the top, hopefully where the other couldn’t see her. Ebony lips drank in the pura, providing a distraction to her lonely life. She knew the borders were open back at Saw Tooth; people would be flooding in like… well, like moths to a flame. Keyna, though, would not be there for a while to help out. She would spend a few days here, reminiscing her old love and strengthening herself. In a blurred rush, she remembered the hunt with Kouga, and the fully healed injury she had obtained from a fall on the rocks throbbed a bit, but pain was not there. The lapse of cool water over Keyna’s tongue began to bore her, and she lifted her head from the flow of liquid. The one below her was still there, and amazingly, he resembled Kouga a bit. Like Kouga, this knight’s eyes were a shining blue, but a shade darker than the Kouga. He held himself tall, proud, and overall arrogant. From written description, you might think she would be compelled to hate him. But in the scenario Keyna was put in, she was pulled towards him by some unknown force. Her ebony paws began to slide forward.
She was almost upon the rocks when she stopped herself. She knew if she stepped a few feet closer, she would surely slip on the stones and fall like she did before. But come on, she wasn’t that smart. The shadowed ess continued to move down the rocky ledge, slowly now, but surely. One foot after the other. Nice and easy. It was a simple climb down, but in her curiosity about the hessian, Keyna did not notice the sudden drop off of the next stone. Misjudging it by half a foot or more, the girl slipped, gray muzzle over ebony heels, and tumbled to the ground, wind absolutely blown from her system. Déjà vu, much? One standing not three feet from her resting point, where Keyna had slipped and fell off of the same rock she had last time? It seemed fate was playing tricks today.
After regaining her footing and standing up, the ebony princess could not help but look at the other’s eyes. They were filled with vanity, but hid a deep wisdom that maybe even he didn’t know about. The bright blue tint of his oricles startled Keyna, causing her to take a step back. Looking away after the s[lit second of observation, Keyna mumbled a quick “Sorry,” before trying to get away. But she couldn’t. It wasn’t the knight behind her that held her back… It was herself. She wanted to know more about this male, see what his motives were for coming here.
