This morning at 7 on Wylie Road the yellow rail clicked away, nearly drowned out by the recording being played loudly by a big-lens fellow in a van. Several grasshopper sparrows sang along the road. An hour later a black-billed cuckoo sang once from the slope just north of the Windmill gate. Since I didn't hear it sing again, I'm not sure whether to trust it -- maybe another recording!? (I didn't hear a vehicle in the area.) Anyway, a beautiful day, being enjoyed by many birders, and birds.
