At the densest section of the forest, there is a brief clearing where a steady flow of water streams down the slippery stone staircase. The water here is cool and refreshing. Staircase Falls has been rumoured to be the place where reality is met by magic; where peaceful spirits dwell. They are rumoured to have healing powers that are used to help the desperately hurt, though no one has experienced this, except for, perhaps, Kaive.

Fear, anxiety, alarm and sadness washed over the girl in powerful waves that hit her stomach and made her feel sick. What was she doing? She was going against all her instincts to run and hide and with every step towards the brute her head screamed for her to turn around and leave. But there was something else. Something deep within her heart that told her she would be okay. Something told her that he wasn’t going to hurt her and she should keep him close. For the first time since she made the decision to leave her Father, Yoki felt torn between her head and her heart but which choice would keep her safe?

Friend? Yoki looked up from the ground at this word. The huntress had never had any friends before, neither had she been classed as someone’s friend. The most she had expected was for him to turn completely against her and leave her once again on her own after the way she had spoken to him but no. He classed her as a friend. How could someone be so nice to her after all that she had said? The lass had never experienced such kindness and to be truthful it was a bit of a shock to the system. Amatus was so gentle and loving; the complete opposite of the girl. She was dull and nasty and blocked every single drop of happiness out of her life, but he had somehow worked his way through her barrier. Why would anyone like him want to spend time with her? The next action caught the huntress completely of guard as the brujo approached her and lifted her chin up with his muzzle. At first the girl jumped and flinched, half expecting him to take a bite but instead he pressed his nose against her cheek and gave her a quick lick. Yoki’s heart fluttered. Never before had she experienced the touch of another wolf without it being violent. The ess was completely overwhelmed and it took a while for the femme to realise that the male had moved away from her and was heading once more to the water. He was like her Knight in shining armour. He had come to rescue her just when she needed it most and it was only until now that she realised she had found a good and pure friend. One that would stay by her side until the end of the world no doubt about it.

“I would live to Amatus.” The girl stood and trotted over to the water, shaking the dirt from her physique. An unusual sense of belonging and happiness wrapped itself around her like a blanket. For once in her life Yoki found herself enjoying life and it was all thanks to him. Sure he was still the annoying and pompous itch that had worked his way into her life but he was her friend and he had already opened up a world of exciting new things. For anybody who had been watching the day unfold they would have chuckled at the sight. A royal, well spoken, multi coloured brute and a dark, cowardly, nasty female frolicking in the water together like pups. The water felt cool around her paws and it soothed her aching pads. “Thank you.” The lass looked up to the Knight and smiled. “I don’t know what I would have done without you.” She moved under the water and held her muzzle upwards letting the water drip down her head and neck and then roll of her shoulders; before she had the urge to shake and soak the male next to her. The huntress giggled playfully, although she wasn’t quite sure of the correct social thing to do next. She had never really been taught how to play or act civil towards another wolf for that matter. The only thing Yoki knew was pain and torture and she couldn’t exactly use that knowledge towards him could she?
