Lifting her eyes as her heart thundered in her chest, El Aran saw the Goddess’s frown and averted her gaze again immediately. Her dusty black legs trembled and in the silence that followed —however brief— her eyes fluttered shut as she prepared to endure the Goddess’s wrath.
An eternity passed before El Aran was answered. No? Her eyes opened and shifted to the Goddess’s— to the mare’s. "Wha- What?" She said. "But you... Your—" and she clamped her mouth shut, trying to make sense of what she was seeing and what she had been told.
With some effort, the seer collected her composure and steadied herself. "My mistake," she said, and though her voice still held some remnants of awe, it was no longer directed at the mare. "The sun must have been in my eyes. Have you come to join Encantador’s herd?"
El Aran heartily hoped the speckled mare had no such intention.
