The fox was indeed startled by the frank discussion of life and death; he supposed, after hearing what Lz and Merlin had to say, that after you'd been dead and come back things like talking about dying must have seemed silly things to be afraid of indeed, but for someone who was and always had been living, it was a taboo subject. Acacia was rather afraid of dying, and even if the possibility of coming back (and coming back larger, at that!) was a strong one on the mountain, the little red fox would much prefer to stay living for as long as he possibly could.
Still, he didn't want to be rude, and so he kept his thoughts to himself. His large, black-tipped ears shifted atop his head as Merlin addressed him, a small smile curving his lips. "I believe so," he replied simply, flicking his tail again. He hadn't noticed Merlin's admiration, but it did indeed appear that his white-tipped tail had a mind of its own, curling and flicking as it pleased and giving very little indication of his actual mood. He laughed a bit, the sound high and merry, at the wolf's remark that they weren't so interesting after all.
"I'd beg to differ," he countered congenially, smiling and settling with a ruffle of the feathery red wings that sprouted between his shoulderblades. He tilted his narrow head at Lz's explanation, ears going back a bit and white-furred chest puffing out a moment with a held back breath. "That's how it was in the land I came from," he said softly, voice sobered and serious. "If you were to die, that was it, really. No real magic, no.." and here he glanced at Ignitus again, with admiration and awe more than anything, "...dragons. Nothing exciting at all, just humans and sunsets and things like that."
