I think a more timely question is what is *being* done to promote the breed?
If the breed is being actively promoted nationally by the registry, there is more incentive to have well trained SM's, as there will then be more of a market for them.
I am myself taking steps both to get my herd registered and to start getting them trained, handled and under saddle, those that I am not keeping for breeding. Hopefully even some of those, in the future.
