The swim was daunting to little Larka. She had never been a fan of the water, the way it called her to it’s depths. She had heard many a horse tale about mares who went out to sea and never returned (though now she could understand why, as she would never return to her original home). So as he led her to the shore her eyes widen, but she didn’t dare voice her fear. She didn’t want it to seem like he was taking a filly home instead of a full grown mare. So with much hesitation she pushed forward into the water. It was strange to her at first, feeling her legs work against something that wasn’t solid fighting to keep her afloat but eventually she got used to the way she moved.

The black and white mare stuck close to his side, occasionally getting a shiver of fear when thinking about what could be lurking underneath them. It was quite a scary thing to think about, plus she couldn’t see a predator below her. She could take something being behind, beside, or in front of her, but when you put the danger under her quite honestly it was hard for Larka not to completely freak out. Though as they continued past Tinuvel, she began to calm down and just enjoy it.

Silent during the trip past the other island and into the distance, where she could see the rain clouds gathering. She didn’t fear them though, for he had told her his home was quite the rainy mess. She is thankful to feel the sand beneath her hooves and she stumbles onto dry land. After the swim she felt quite dizzy and it was hard for her to keep her balance. Looking into her new home, she heard Nikola speak. Half listening, half still trying to recover she looked at him with a quick sigh.

”No, it wasn’t too hard. I’m just…” Scared of the water? No, she wouldn’t admit to that, ”Still getting used to swimming. Haven’t quite gotten my sea legs yet.” She let out a nervous chuckle and flicked her wet tail and looking onwards. She tilted her head and flicked her ears forward. She couldn’t imagine how she could feel isolated. Because, honestly, everything she knew was here. Everything she still had rested on this big rock. A smile fell on her face, and her eyes locked with his. ”Besides, it’s not like I have anything to miss, this is my home now.” She told him decisively maybe more for herself than for him. She was slowly coming out of her shell, feeling more opinionated, and strangely more free than she had felt before.

Larka took a few steps toward him, wanting to keep close. ”How long have you been here Nikola?” And that was the first time. The first time she allowed his name to fall from his lips. It felt like home. And she hoped, that this new life she had seeminly fell into was going to be the one that she thanked the gods for.
