Toric, in all honesty, was trying not to laugh.
It wasn't meanness or contempt that humored him, of course, but one had to admit that the situation - and the reaction - bordered on hilarious.
Holding his jaws shut tight, he dismissed the Mer-Creature Blessing and scrambled fully onto the riverbank, giving a vigorous shake.
"Heheh. Don't worry about it, Texas. I'm terribly sorry I scared you." He gazed indulgently out at the young Ztehn and, seeing that the show was over, Durante ducked his head and went back to terrorizing the fish.
"That was the Mer-creature blessing, or so its called. I've never gotten used to the feel of exchanging my hind legs for a tail like that, but its a useful thing. And..." He nodded pointedly toward the ripples and splashes that marked where Durante had submerged. "They can do it from birth." Replies: There have been no replies.
