At the densest section of the forest, there is a brief clearing where a steady flow of water streams down the slippery stone staircase. The water here is cool and refreshing. Staircase Falls has been rumoured to be the place where reality is met by magic; where peaceful spirits dwell. They are rumoured to have healing powers that are used to help the desperately hurt, though no one has experienced this, except for, perhaps, Kaive.

Being paranoid was an obnoxious issue to live with on a daily basis. But being paranoid and finding out that this time you actually had a reason to feel such just made things worse. At least when you were being paranoid for no real reason, you were still alone and less likely to be in danger. Right now though, Lliw was wishing she hadn't been right about having a shadow that wasn't her own. The smudgey wolf, very coarsely coated and so many varying shades of grey that she actually kind of disliked looking at him at first, dropped something in front of her snout and then backed up. Probably a wise move because she was in the mood to bite anything within range if he posed a threat. Biting his ankle would probably do about as much damage as a teething puppy right about now, but it wasn't beyond her current mental state to try it no matter how insignificant the results. Her mismatched gaze stared at him for a moment longer before she even considered what it was he had placed on the ground. She debated growling at him but discarded the idea as curiosity won out.

Turning her skull to focus her blurry sights on the small shape that was lying lifeless a few inches from where her snout had been before she had rolled to prop herself up, the first thing she noticed was the smell of blood. Was it hers or the rabbit's? She honestly couldn't tell anymore. Maybe in a few days her nose wouldn't be flooded with the stench of death and loss. While she couldn't actually smell the meat at the moment, she could see it clearly enough to recognize it as food, despite the lack of techni-color. Grabbing the rabbit in a rather tender grasp of her teeth, she dragged it across the dirt and settled it between her forepaws, glancing at the wolf who had brought it with a look of suspicion. Feeling the still warm carcass, she decided that he hadn't had the time to ruin the meat and that it was likely safe to ingest.

As she ripped into the mass of fur and tissues, the usual flood of thoughts and questions came rushing back, the adrenaline no longer there to hold the storm back. Why had he been following her? Why was he giving her food? Did he want something from her and if it was the title she had just won, why didn't he just kill her and walk away with it? Was this some beginning to a big joke....? Her mind shut up momentarily as it filtered in his words, the ones she had totally heard but not registered and comprehended until her mind had jumped tracks as it often did. Congratulations for winning...well, that told her that he had seen at least one of the fights, but he sounded much more like he had watched both because who congratulates a challenger on winning only one fight? With that assumption, Lliw looked up from the nearly devoured rabbit, her gaze still narrowed with a hint of confusion mixed in with the lack of trust. Licking her lips, she caved in to her scrambled thoughts and answered him with a question.

"And what have I won?"

She knew what she had won, but she wanted to get as much information out of him without giving very much in return for the moment. Information was power and she really didn't have much power in the sense of the physical right now, leaving only what she knew as leverage if it turned out that he was up to some trickery.
