The forest stands tall and lush here; ancient trees reach weather-twisted arms to the sky, fighting monster-like storm clouds back with their interlacing fingers. Shadow seems to lurk everywhere you look, but it spills calmly, coolly, inspiring a sense of stealthy calm or protection rather than unease. That is, if you've forgotten what kind of creature might be stalking just out of sight...Abendrot is a land cradled by the dark woods on all sides; in the center, some of the larger trees stay behind to reveal a small plateau - a citadel where this pack can gather and defend itself from invaders. There are, of course, softer sides to the land. Clearings here and there allow the sun to throw down its rays in incongruously resplendent gold showers. Ignore the lingering scents of blood spattered here and there along the borders: those do not concern you. The river on one edge of the territory is playful enough when it hasn't been gorged by violent rain. You can choose to note the ragged claw marks raked down tree trunks and the forest floor as friendly "Home Sweet Home" signs, if you wish.

All who treasure loyalty, order, victory, and the occasional indulgence of raw visceral pleasure are welcome, once they've been approved by the ever-watchful eyes of Abendrot's Alpha. But keep one thing in mind: no matter what your motive, this is not a fool's Paradise. This is the land of soldiers, assassins, and spies. This is ABENDROT.

Make up your mind quickly and prepare to prove your worth. You wouldn't want to add to those blood spatters, would you...?

I am the rain held in distain

I was through trying to reason with her. This child obviously had no sense about her and I had already wasted a good portion of my precious time trying to rationalize with her inconsiderate and naive little soul to no avail. She was callous to where I was kind, inconsiderate to which I was understanding, impolite where as I was respectful, and down right insubordinate. If she hadn’t had the familiarity of… if she… if. Perhaps maybe then I would have given her what she deserved…

Oh now what was this? A lie. How absolutely charming. Does she just aim to piss me off? “I have lived long enough to decipher the difference between what is sincere and what is empty, lying gets you no where little girl especially not here.” My voice has hardened, the traces of all warmth fading away along with the last of my patience. Just positively lovely…

“Children grow up Miss Taylor, a fact you have seemed to quite blatantly overlooked. Perhaps we only need to set a flame beneath that frame of yours then you yourself might mature a little... You need to be taught, it seems that deficiency of guidance has crippled you of etiquette.” The last part came out as a sneer. How sad, no one had tested my patience this bad in a very, very long while. “You need to learn that most of all.” I desperately wanted to teach her a lesson for her insolence but I didn’t think that would bode well for me. I was a creature of conscience after all… quite sad actually. Well I suppose just a nip wouldn’t hurt? I was about to test my theory when she spoke again, ruining that small train of thought I had built upon nicking that skin of hers.

“I think you misunderstood me. You are even more of a fool if you believe I hadn’t wished to die but as fate would have it Lady Luck wasn’t much on my side that day.” I smiled at the dry humor lacing my bitter words. “Perhaps you would like to taste of death? I would be happy to oblige - if that is your true desire it would seem I would be doing you a favor would it not?” She showed no decorum. It is well known that you do not show gold to the thief - it will be stolen. Maybe it was just the fact she didn’t think before she spoke or maybe it was even worse! Maybe little Miss Taylor thought I wouldn’t I almost pouted at the thought. Out of the many things that would pain me I must say spilling wine on fleece such as her would be very, very close to sin but if she asked. Oh well I would find it a much greater sin not to humor her. Maybe she would find the darkness of death more comforting…

I kept walking ignoring her smile and keeping my eyes focused ahead. “Someplace you wont find yourself getting into trouble...” I happily failed to mention it would be someplace deep inside the boarders of Abendrot; someplace that I was sure she would not be able to escape. “You‘ll enjoy it.” I almost laughed, no who was the one lying?

We spent close an hour weaving and winding our way through the lands. I myself backtracking and moving in large circles an semi-circles several times on purpose just so as my little guest could not rewind. It seemed she was forced to fallow me and if not? Well lets just say that even a Abendrot wolf would have gotten lost in my company by now. I guess I had a knack for such things, poor little Taylor was at my mercy. Such a shame I was in the mood of granting clemency.

Deeper and deeper we went until at last it seemed my perfume had graced every shard of land with in a 5 mile radius, metaphorically of course. I wasn’t that eccentric, I coated what was needed - nothing more nothing less. I only stopped when I found myself at our destination. Here nestled somewhere a little to the east of the pack lands center laid a small patch of land I had a set my claim to. A brief break from the shaded canopy of trees. To the right an outcrop of large rock graced the soil below with shade and there somewhat off to the side a break; a crack which led to the child’s new accommodations for the duration of her stay in Abendrot. I smiled closing my colored mirrors, inhaling the subtle tinge of wild flowers in the air. So many of the little scarlet hued petals graced this little patch of land. A rare find amongst the thick forest. I suppose I was just gifted in finding hidden treasures... suppose.

“You are to sleep in there.” I said gesturing to the entrance in the stone. “You will be in that cave by sun down and if I peek in to find that you are not… well-” I lifted a lip. “I guess I will just have to hunt you down and drag you back by that pretty little tail of yours.” I started off to my own abode when something stopped me in my tracks. “Oh and Miss Taylor? If any other finds themselves in this clearing…” I turned to look at her, silver and gold orbs scrutinizing her childlike features. “You are to treat them as you would me do you understand? Better in fact - yes sir, yes ma‘am; no sir, no ma‘am. You will do what they ask and you will do it mutely… You speak only when spoken to.” I started walking again letting the last of my words fall quietly. “I will teach you to manners yet and I can be a very persuasive teacher…”

“This is your home now” I barked. “it would benefit you a great deal to get used to it.”
