i saw you in my dream last night {any}

I saw you in my dream last night
you had a smile so white.
I thought your teeth were the stars.
your eyes they were like tiny rivers
well, it gave me the shivers
when you looked right up at me

It was a beautiful day. The sun had begun to shine at last in the Ridge. Although, the overcast sky never faded, the grass looked a little greener and for the first time in weeks Larka didn’t hear a rumbling thunder in the distance. Perhaps it was the sudden change of weather that caused the black and white mare to ponder on her current situation.

Since she had arrived in the ridge, she had spent a vast majority of her time with Nikola. Not daring to talk to the other mares unless he was near. Maybe it was because of her bubbling feelings for him, or perhaps it was just because of her own insecurities. Little Larka had never been good in social situations; and she wasn’t one to confront. Plus, the thought of spending time with someone she didn’t know well sent shivers down her spine.

But that was how it was before she met Nikola in the common. She had been so nervous and scared, and she vaguely remembered making a complete fool of herself. Okay, maybe the memory was vague, but she’d like it to be. Stuffing your face into someone’s side until you can’t breathe is never an okay thing… but Nikola didn’t seem to mind.

Maybe that’s why she liked him so much. He didn’t care if she was slightly introverted; in fact she thought he embraced it and protected her from the world and its harsh nature. Though today, with a change of weather, she would find another. A mare to confide in. The excitement she found when opening up to Nikola was addicting; and she wanted more. Quickly she let out a short whinny, and it echoed through the hills. Larka then blushed, second guessing the whinny. Perhaps it was too much; too desperate. Her eyes cut to the ground below her and she began to focus on a rather interesting piece of grass.

Then she remembered her earlier run in with Pierce, and prayed a silent prayer she wouldn’t come up to harass her. Not that Larka couldn’t learn to love her (as she thought the short conversation they had was entirely her faul) she just doesn’t do confrontation well. But hopefully another mare would be the chestnut to the point and she could get this whole socialization thing over with.

you can stay here a while in this hotel heart
people come and they go everyday
I'll never let it get cold or dark or crowded
I'll never give your spot away.
