The air is heavy as you make your way through unknown territory, as you pause to sniff the air a drop of rain falls onto your nose. It is soon followed by another and another and soon the rain is pelting down in sheets, soaking you to the bone. The clouds are an angry purple and the menacing drumming of thunder rolls over the sky. Squinting your eyes against the blinding water you find yourself at the edge of a large, dark pine forest. You are too desperate for shelter to notice the scents that mark the border and plunge in, and nearly into the chilly stream that runs through the territory. You veer away and as you are shaking the water out of your fur you notice a large pair of icy blue shards gazing at you. The storm has passed now and beams of sunlight filter through the thick canopy of pines, illuminating a massive male wolf not three feet away from where you stand.

His pelt looks like a bad patchwork job of black and white and beneath them you see large, hard bands of steely muscle and you know this is a warrior for his torso is marred with many battle scars. His banner curls over his back and his lips are drawn, exposing sharp ivory daggers. When he speaks his voice is deep and dominant, like the thunder you so recently heard.

"Wolf, you have found yourself in the terra of the Andere Seite Pack. I am Eclipse, king of this land."

It is only then that you notice another pair of lanterns gleaming in the penumbra and a dark-pelted fae slinks out into the clearing to stand next to the king, her own banner waves and her green and blue eyes bore into you. She is the same size as most males and a crisscrossing pattern of scars show that she too can take care of herself. Her voice is cold and has a snake-like sound to it yet you can see they are both fair rulers.

"And I am Nephthys, queen of Andere. We don’t care much for strangers so you must make your choice, Submit to us now or flee our lands and never return. If you fail to do either you will have little time left to regret it."

The formidable pair pierces you with their gaze and you feel as if all your secrets spill out before them. You are left with a decision now. Will you submit and take refuge in this dark forest or will you flee and never know what secrets these trees hide? Make haste, you can see that the pair grow tired of waiting.

YOU'VE GOT THESE LITTLE THINGS
THAT YOU'VE BEEN RUNNING FROM

IT HAD BEEN quite a while since Valiant had last set foot in Andere Seite. The territory meant little to nothing to him, but that insistent, subconscious need to protect what he considered as 'his' was still there, and it was the only thing that brought him back. Stubbornly unhappy with his sister after they'd argued---in secret, of course---and unwilling to let himself back down, Val had been away for long enough that he could've very well been declared dead in their eyes. Not that they really cared enough for that; all his life he'd been trained to keep away from attachment and Seline might have been the only wolf he'd felt something more than a small bit of affection for.

AND NOW HE HAD four small shadows following him around; he'd be nothing but dry bones before he would ever admit they meant something to him. From their birth, he had left them alone, forcing them into independence because relying on others was a foolish thing to do. The moment they could hunt, they did it for themselves and all of them survived on smaller game as they traveled. Valiant had to say, he was quite proud of the youngsters. They weren't even close to being adults---not even close to being adolescents, either---and he thought that they might have been able to fend for themselves pretty well.

REED, HOWEVER, HAD developed the habit of just following his father around. Val couldn't be sure if it was because the curious boy was trying to learn something, or if it was just because of some sort of separation anxiety (although he severely doubted that) but he wasn't really worried enough to wean him off of it. Now, they padded through stiff underbrush together. Val wasn't really keen on introducing them to the full extent of their family yet, but he figured he'd stumble upon one of them at some point. And now, with Cade's distinct smell drifting through the air, it was clear that that point was that moment.

VALIANT THREW HIS SON a short look, a warning of sorts. Reed just tilted his head cockily, his lip curling a bit and Val smiled just a little. The pup had been eying his surroundings with a critical, if not wary gaze, and Valiant couldn't blame him. Andere was a shadowy place. As they neared the borders, the trees thinned out and it became far less eerie.

HE CAUGHT THE TAIL end of the stranger male's words and as he broke through the greenery, he shot Cade a blank stare, thinking she seemed far more subdued than usual. Or maybe she'd just grown up---like that was likely. Then he looked at the stranger, a male who smelled of blood and had a confident, threatening sort of air about him. Val made no move to take any step closer, but he did smile slightly, a sarcastic expression. "Yes, Cade, are you going to invite him in?"

TO BE RUNNING FROM ANYONE
