Was out last night to complete the whip-poor-will survey for Bird Studies Canada. Was doing square 17PK55 which includes Uphill and Alvar Road between Victoria and Wylie Roads.

The conditions were perfect - no wind, little cloud and cool enough to keep the mosquitoes at bay.

And the whip-poor-wills performed wonderfully. Got to see three, all sitting on the road. Got to hear at least 23. Also had wonderful displays by common nighthawks.

It was well worth the time spent.
