the missing piece that makes me fit

morgan -----
by eli out of caylee

Her eyes are hard and her ears are flat – a warning that no funny business will be tolerated. She’s not against stallions in general (although in her experience, they are very selfish creatures who think only of themselves when times get tough), but after all the bad ones that she and Isoke have run into, Morgan is going to make sure this boy knows the drill from the get-go.

She’s not stupid; she knows that Isoke’s daughter won’t be able to travel right away. Through the past months, she has grudgingly decided that the Ridge is actually a nice place, though perhaps a bit too close to Paradise and the Harbor for her liking. If the stallion had found them earlier, she probably wouldn’t be so cross now. But now that the foal is out of the safety of Isoke’s womb, the stallion is much more of a threat.

It’s always been very easy to rile Morgan up, and she has herself so worked up now that Isoke’s touch does not calm her down as it usually does. It takes her friend’s tired, whispered words to get her to desist glaring at the man. Once the spots of red clear from her vision, she looks the stallion over. He looks about as sturdy as she is, though perhaps a little less rugged, and a few shades darker.

She rubs her dark nose against Isoke’s darker shoulder, careful not to take her eyes off the stallion. ”Why don’t you take her and go rest?” she suggests quietly, sure that these last few hours have been really hard on her best friend. These long months since that last, horrible day in the falls have been dreadful for Morgan, and she can only imagine how much worse they’ve been for Isoke.

Her eyes are cold as she listens to Nikola’s little speech and it takes everything in her to keep herself from baring her teeth at him again. Her anger at his presumption that they can’t take care of themselves only makes her muscles tighten further.

”Thank you for the offer,” she says stiffly, not meaning a word of it but feeling as though she needs to be polite and keep things civil for Isoke and the child. ”I would appreciate it if you steered clear of us, though,” she adds, ”that way, I can see for myself if your actions back up your pretty words.”

Her eyes are as dark as molten chocolate as they burn intensely, staring him directly in the face as they hint at the promise of a threat if he does not heed her wishes. If he does not let them linger in peace, Morgan wants him to realize that she would be willing to resort to violence to protect Isoke and the filly, who are the only ones she cares about.
