a light from the shadows shall spring Naraku Plot Continuation

The silvery boy stood still, slightly to the right of his leader, as per usual. His sea colored eyes constantly kept note of everything going on. His duty was to protect the dark warrior, and to do his bidding, nothing else mattered to the white statuette. Whatever this master of hell told him to do, he would stop at nothing to achieve his goal, even should it be at the cost of throwing cold salt water over his flame of life. It wasn't as if he mattered, anyway. He was and always had been simply a useful tool for the other boy to order in whatever way he saw fit. If the tool is broken during use, than it has fulfilled it's duty, and the user owes it nothing. You do not keep a knife that was broken in the carving away of flesh. This was how he had always been expected to think, and always thought, unless he had held some other shadows of a dream when still was nestled at his mother's side. If so, he did not remember them, nor were they the kinds of things that he was encouraged to think about. Not that Naraku would likely care what he thought about, but he had been carefully trained by others to put away such idle, useless things. He would never have dreams of his own come true.

The bone-china marionette didn't understand the members of his own species. Each individual seemed to have his own goals and dreams. These things were the most important to them. Each wolf would preach about "right," and "wrong," but they were like drowning men, pushing each other into the ocean for a chance to grasp a dream that floated just out of reach. He, who was supposed to be a stepping stone to help his master reach high enough to breach the shore of dreams, could never understand their sentiments. Byakuya had been trained from the time that he was able to walk. In his pack, he was one of the serving class, a caste who were brought up for the express purpose of being the hands and feet of the alpha, their family, and certain top-rank wolves. He was chosen from the beginning for the honour of being chained to an alpha pup, a strong male who had the ability, as well as good chances of, being the next alpha. His parents were well pleased at bringing forth a useful son, and he was soon spirited away by the trainers. He grew quickly, becoming even then a bit taller than average, and also excelled in his tasks, learning quickly to be a good retainer. As a young teen he had been presented to the princeling, who even then had a strong aura of dominance to go with his strong, two-toned bodice. No matter what the future held for the boy, it was Byakuya's job to protect and serve him.

He watched, as was ever his job, as the darlking king exchanged words with the femme who's soul was created of hell-flame, Shiva. Soon after another ghoulish spectre appeared, who stated that he was in, on certain terms, speaking not, however, before going to one of the skeletons in this room of the cave and stealing from it a bone to chew. The lord agreed to the terms stated. The computer which was the white ghost's mind filed all of this away. Soon after, yet another creature entered the demonic group. His face, which would otherwise be that which other wolves would call, “handsome,” was what other wolves would call, “marred” by a deep slash that covered it in part. He had not yet reached a conclusion as to why things such as looks changed the way that the strange ones like those who he had seen on the way here thought of members of there own kind. It was all very odd. They were all wolves, were they not? They all shared the same genes in the long run. He was amused that, as he observed, while the wolves who had faces that were naturally considered “beautiful,” would usually back stab those who trusted them, wolves tended to not trust those who were not “beautiful.” This was all very funny because those where not “beautiful” from birth tended to treat those who gave them an advantage better than anyone else. He wasn't complaining, however. His status as “beautiful” had helped him get jobs done in the past.

Soon after this, even another monster appeared around the bend that led to there dark abode. If there were this many wolves who flew the flag of evil in this place, it was a wonder that there had not been a rebellion before his master had come about. This one was another cannibal, with a dead puppy in his locked jaws. Byakuya was kind of negatively neutral on the topic of cannibalism. He had no problem with it morally, why not eat others of your own kind? A wolf was a predator, and by nature should eat what it could hunt. What did he have against it, then? He had tried wolf before, to say that he had, mostly. He didn't like narrow minded people. However, the taste had not agreed with him, as he had found it a bit too... Something. Strong-flavoured, perhaps? For his tastes, anyway. That and the look of the eyes staring open at him had put him off it a bit. It still looked to alive. He had surprised himself by being squeamish about that, but he thought it was rather gross. He had absolutely no problem with others dining in front of him though, oddly enough it didn't look bad at all. By the way everyone enjoyed it, they must have found the flavor good. Perhaps he had just gotten a bad one, but it had spoiled his apatite for that particular dish until some further point.

Another creature entered their own little pit in hell as he was musing the oddities of cannibalism. A femme, she did seem to have a couple screws loose somewhere, but he wasn't judging. Or maybe he was, a little bit, as he was a very opinionated person on the inside, but those thoughts were not something he shared, so his face kept up it's blank mask. He had absolutely no problems with her joining them anyway, so long as the lord didn't. Who ever said that psychos weren't useful? She seemed to be a relation to the scarred one, as she acted toward him in an affectionate manner. Nodding to her, the ghost began to address the group as a whole. As soon as the speech was done, the wolf dubbed Blood King stood and answered with a magnificent addition of his own. He seemed very interested in their scheme. Byakuya felt no need to answer with a pledge of loyalty of his own, as Naraku already knew that he would be forever loyal. He was a bit peeved, albeit in a slightly wry way, when Blood King, having finished his talk, moved over and sat close to the Lord, directly in front of the icy protector. Irritated, he scooted over, closer to Naraku, and wedged almost in between the two of them. He needed to be in a place where he could see the group, and also keep this newcomer Blood King or any of the others from causing his leader harm.

Despite the already large state of the group, the fates did not seem to be done sending them presents yet, as soon another creature, this one an almost brown shade of black, appeared. Looking around at her surroundings, he face became carefully blank, much like the natural state of his own features. Her dual-coloured eyes revealing nothing of her thoughts, she joined them, saying nought a word. And yet, still another another creature arrives, this one looking slightly more looney than the one before. Waltzing in, she surveyed the surroundings, taking in everything at her leisure. She seemed the sort that would have to be kept busy, or else she could be dangerous. Although it was none of his business how his master felt like commanding this, or any, group, Byakuya had a pretty good understanding of how things worked, having watched the internal functions of his and his master's pack before leaving.
