"Yes, after my mother." She smiled, this time it was genuine but still fake-sweet and sarcastic. "So, if you want to join, I'd welcome you if I had any authority." She chuckled.

Solares glared at Heartbeat suspiciously, then turned away, laying down. He didn't need to spy on the naive little twit. He rolled over and stared up at the stalactites boredly.

Heartbeat whispered in his ear, "I think the group needs someone to keep them together, or else we'll kill each other off. I was thinking I should have some authority to keep us from slaughtering each other one by one." She then stepped back.
