You've Stolen My Heart [Nikola]

Mare - Lusitano - Palomino - 15.3hh - 5

She had woken both children when the sun was beginning to show. Jabberwocky had gone off with a bounce in his step, little Balderdash right behind him. She was glad for this small moment alone. With Vesti and Pierce gone it was rather quiet. It was just her, Nikola and Larka, who was missing. She hadn't seen the pretty mare lately. It was lonely here. With a sigh she flipped her golden locks from her face, and stared up toward the heart of her home, the Ridge itself. She couldn't keep both her boy's away from it, and being the mother she was the one who needed to make sure everything was safe, which meant marking out a path that was safe for them.

Glancing over to the vanishing form of them both, they were heading to the beach, she moved her legs away from their little cover in the bush. Her hoofs soon met fallen rocks, and bracing herself started up the long dangerous path. For a foal, this would be highly dangerous, even if they were smaller and could stay on the path better. Foals scare easily, and can't keep their balance, which is another reason why the golden mother never wished to make this climb. She couldn't bear the thought of losing one of them. Tilting her pale ears forward, she focused her eyes on her hoofs, watching the ground in case she missed a step. The higher she got, the scarier it was.

A sudden cry above had her missing a step, and rocks crumbled under her hooves. Now she was certainly frozen on the path, halfway to the top. A large bird circled above her before flying off. Her ears were plastered against her skull as she soon felt drops of rain pelting her like bullets. Sure the ridge was known for it's constant rainstorms, but did it really have to happen now? She kept blinking to try to keep water from her eyes, but it didn't help, she was becoming blinded by the assaulting rain.

"Nikola!" she shouted. As tough as she seemed sometimes, everyone has their weakness. I'd be scared too if i was stuck on some rocky path and couldn't see. I could like fall to my death or something. He seemed to be her only hope at the moment. She was glad her boys didn't come.
