Virus UPDATE on Fake Adobe software update.

Virus UPDATE:

This morning (7/17/12) when I turned on my computer, an update for ADOBE was waiting to be activated. I’ve seen this update before and thought it would be no problem. But, it appears the virus makers have found a way to piggy back on to a legitimate appearing update. As soon as the update was finished, BAM! the FAKE antivirus software started running a scan of my computer. I recognized the FAKE software logo and shut my computer down, but it was too late.
The FAKE program locked me out of everything, except an opportunity to provide them with a credit card number authorizing them to remove all the “bogus” viruses found on my computer. Please understand this request if also a scam. I’ve known others that have provided the card number and found their ID had been compromised and their computer still has the virus.
I didn’t have time to remove it but instead took it to a reliable computer shop to have it cleaned. Each virus technique is a learning experience; I just wanted to pass the message along. For conformation of my information, type “fake Adobe virus” in your Google or any search engine.
Just a little computer GEEKing update. Jerry Wotherspoon
