The air is heavy as you make your way through unknown territory, as you pause to sniff the air a drop of rain falls onto your nose. It is soon followed by another and another and soon the rain is pelting down in sheets, soaking you to the bone. The clouds are an angry purple and the menacing drumming of thunder rolls over the sky. Squinting your eyes against the blinding water you find yourself at the edge of a large, dark pine forest. You are too desperate for shelter to notice the scents that mark the border and plunge in, and nearly into the chilly stream that runs through the territory. You veer away and as you are shaking the water out of your fur you notice a large pair of icy blue shards gazing at you. The storm has passed now and beams of sunlight filter through the thick canopy of pines, illuminating a massive male wolf not three feet away from where you stand.

His pelt looks like a bad patchwork job of black and white and beneath them you see large, hard bands of steely muscle and you know this is a warrior for his torso is marred with many battle scars. His banner curls over his back and his lips are drawn, exposing sharp ivory daggers. When he speaks his voice is deep and dominant, like the thunder you so recently heard.

"Wolf, you have found yourself in the terra of the Andere Seite Pack. I am Eclipse, king of this land."

It is only then that you notice another pair of lanterns gleaming in the penumbra and a dark-pelted fae slinks out into the clearing to stand next to the king, her own banner waves and her green and blue eyes bore into you. She is the same size as most males and a crisscrossing pattern of scars show that she too can take care of herself. Her voice is cold and has a snake-like sound to it yet you can see they are both fair rulers.

"And I am Nephthys, queen of Andere. We don’t care much for strangers so you must make your choice, Submit to us now or flee our lands and never return. If you fail to do either you will have little time left to regret it."

The formidable pair pierces you with their gaze and you feel as if all your secrets spill out before them. You are left with a decision now. Will you submit and take refuge in this dark forest or will you flee and never know what secrets these trees hide? Make haste, you can see that the pair grow tired of waiting.

if you find a four-leaf clover
you will discover happiness.
but it can never be found.
happiness lies inside
a secret cage.
no one can possess
the four-leaf clover.

Days flew by... weeks booked it across the calendar and months seemed to turn pages like that of a picture book... where there was no information to fill the hungering head with fact nor fiction, just pictures and faded memories. She could literally think of them whatever way she wanted to. Make up a story, go with it- and not be told that it was either right or wrong... it was simple just there. It existed, yet at the same time it didnt exist. Everything was backwards. Up was down and down was up. Left was right and right was most certainly not itself. Things that used to be were not and what wasn't, was. It was the most confusing thought process ever and somehow it made perfect sense. The varg's body was in discomfort but her mind told her to be at ease. I suppose this can easily be compared to the feeling of "high." The worlds sharpness had suddenly become childproof and living seemed much more easy; in reality though, it still had its dagger pointed at her throat. Clover was in a supernova of lies and one truth. And she somehow had to pick that one truth out of the mass amount of lies.

Life chugged along. Through a blur, every minute seemed to last a year in length- and therefore, the creamy ess went through many millenia awaiting the day she would be awakened from the hellish slumber she had managed to fall into. She was but a cursed princess awaiting to be saved from her tower guarded by a fire-breathing dragon. However, after a while it became all too obvious that no one was coming to play savior for her and rescue the femme from the realistic nightmare she'd been thrust into. That's probably when her heart slowly picked itself up off the floor, dusted itself off, and began to move forward again, ever so slowly dancing the way it used to. It was determined to get it right this time, having been broken out of its endless watercolor picture book once before, it vowed not to fall and guve up again until it was truly time for that to be the call of destiny... something of inevitable force would be the only thing that would cause the heart to stop beating again. In short- Clover was given a second chance at life. And she awoke with the sun shining brightly in her palette, blinding her view for all but a few moments. A fit beginning for the miracle.

The serpent was the creature that deceived Eve when she was debating on picking a fruit from the tree of knowledge. If it had not been for that cold-blooded liar, the world would still be the way that Clover now saw it. She knew not of distrust or of trust... she was just sort of there. A mere being with no soul to account for. She didn't know what muscles were- much less how to move them. She knew not of eating or drinking or wanting or needing. She was not gaining knowledge at this point in time either. She just lay in a bed of terra for days and nights. But on the fourth day of her lazing about, her gullet burned for the addictive taste of liquid crystal down her throat... and she was once again reintroduced to Pandora's box. She learned then of desire, pain, and relatively mild hatred. The vampress stumbled to her pallid pillars, knowing somehow that to move she must use all her mental capacity to tell her muscles just what to do. Her bones moaned with effort, finally allowing her to make distance from that wretched place. One step at a time, all the way to the blur of fluid- of which she burrowed her tongue into and dragged up laps of water.

Her desire for hydration having been fufilled the adult ess made her way on numb pistons through a heavily wooded area. Was it summer already? Clover could only just recall the beginning of spring having hit the earth... the last thing she could pull from her memory files was a plum in blossom, just spreading its buds after a long harsh winter. The femmora could not help marveling for a long while on how different the works of the season looked from the last time she laid lunars on them. The light was more strong- or perhaps it was just the dilation of her bleached evergreen watchers... but each strand of light could be picked up on; even ones as thin and long as a human hair. For some odd reason, Clover was reminded of just how wonderful life could be... Even the emerald pigment of each leaf on a single tree... it blew the valkyrie away. Was this what the earth had been saving its energy for during the frigid winter months? It was magnificent... Wonderful and fascinating.

And for some reason, Project Clover- or just Clover- found that the border she'd stumbled upon had a sense of familiarity to it... as if it were a friend she had not seen in a very very long time. She froze- her miniscule bodice (still that representing a runt who had just passed hinto adulthood from her teenage years though she was well into her adulthood by now), having muscle memory and not being able to go a step further than where she was two feet behind the imaginary line of a packlands border. Dull sage watchers were blinded momentarily by a fleeting memory of a male- one with strikingly handsome features and breath-taking eyes... but the feeling that came after this short view was not one of love or lust or any kind of sensual feeling... instead it was of sadness and kinship. But he was most definitely not her blood brother- for she at least remembers watching those putrid little devils dying of unknown causes. Who was he? Who was he to her? What was his name? Or should that was be an is? The ponderings were left hanging... there was nothing that had the power to satisfy them.

Night was laying its ebon blanket over the ozone layer of the sky, cloaking the light blue sky with a black velvet dusk that fell all too quickly to a the color of fear- black. Tiny stars sparkled in the distant cosmos, but they provided little light for the waning crescent moon was closer to a new moon than it was to full. Clover let her shoulders drop with the sun and she herself lay down at the border, unsure of what to do. She rested her delicately carved dial on her skinny wrists, keeping her eyes open just barely in the hope of seeing someone approach. Even if she made no sound... even if she did not cry wolf... would she be saved from her indescribable solitude? If she was not... she would surely be a mere corpse lying on the line by mornings first light. She could not save herself a second time.

Just then, the world stopped turning on its axis. The metronome of a second hand on a time keeper fell silent and sound became a mere passerby that walked too quickly in the opposite direction of one's destination. Only one mere sound was at its maximum. And that was the sound of hesitant yet rushed footfalls falling above the terra firmas surface. Clovers auditory units flickered upwards in suspense and her optics wavered as a form broke free of the underbrush from the opposite side of the territory line. If she had but harbored the strength to, Clover would have risen to her columns in anticipation and acknowledgment of the other souls appearance. However... she was far too weak to do so. The silhouette took a while to become something other than just. But when Clover's moss hued gems adjusted to cast a glance, tears slid down her cheekbones, matting the fur to the skin underneath and drawing thin gray lines on her creamy visage. They were painless streams of salt water... and she knew not why her heart strings demanded the deed to be done. The only thing about it was that it actually felt like the most appropriate thing to do... stranger still was the looming fact that this wolf had the same features and looks of the male Clovers memory had given her brief glances of.

Time waits for no one. But inevitability often transcends time... and therefore breaks the law. It's said that we're all here for a reason... and that we won't rest until our duty has been fulfilled. With a reappearance from the girl who was supposed to be dead... I suppose this little tidbit of myth can be considered true.

Count me as one... Amongst the walking dead.
