At the densest section of the forest, there is a brief clearing where a steady flow of water streams down the slippery stone staircase. The water here is cool and refreshing. Staircase Falls has been rumoured to be the place where reality is met by magic; where peaceful spirits dwell. They are rumoured to have healing powers that are used to help the desperately hurt, though no one has experienced this, except for, perhaps, Kaive.

For a male wolf, Volbeat prided himself on being rather large. His muscles, for it was these that elevated his height and body index, had been developed over a course of a long time, a long struggle. It was a wonder the old maid hadn't gained the same as him, but rather lost hers, wasted. The thought of her made him growl, for genetics had practically bred him to do such a thing whenever he thought of family. Or perhaps it was the brain wash that his mother had sent him through, something that even he wasn't aware of, breeding him for hate. Hate of his father, apparently a bastard, hate of his own mother, their only thethers respect. He hardly thought that she loved him, for shewasn't even capable of loving herself. She was in love with madness, and therefore he nurtured the ideas that erupted from her fury and drive for revenge with a similar gleam in his eye. But, most dissapointly, the cinder wolfess had stopped her mutterings, the evil little clipits that grew rampant in his brain. He had taken the mantle to care for her, hell he had practically promised their last alphess that whatever his mother did was on his head. But lately it wasn't much of a chore, for her head was in the clouds, grizzled and old as she was, and amongst these clouds were the thoughts that kept her from coniving in secret once more. Oh- how surprised he was to find that he actually semi-missed it.

But it was because of her aimless meanderings (which is what they had in turn grown into) that he was allowed to slip away from her time to time. Like now. For such bulk he moved swfitly, crossing through the puddles of sun's rising light with the prowess of one experienced to avoiding the spotlight. A tooth slipped from beneath his lip, merely a display of meager dominance, nothing more. His furtive glances stilled as he reached the entrance to Staircase Falls, a narrow indentation in the wall that ultimely led to a walkway, then to the outside. He strode towards it confidently know, shoulders back, auds pricked upright, foot steps sure and heavy. His tri-colored pelt was simply a tool of the darkness itself as he faded into it and out once again as he entered the light.
