aurora borealis- noun plural: An aurora that occurs in northern regions of the earth. Also called northern lights.

In the middle of a dense forest of coniferous trees lies the Aurora Borealis pack, its name coming from its location. At certain times of the year, the northern lights appear, dancing almost magically in the sky. A narrow trail leads you through the close evergreens. Giving into temptation, you begin moving your paws. By venturing into this territory, you are venturing into a land belonging to a pair of feared leaders. You have heard rumors of them...but you decide to take your chances and hope that the tales of blood and death are merely fabricated stories to scare wolves.

You have walked nearly five minutes before you realize the sound of paws stepping somewhere from behind. Deciding that you've made a mistake, you quickly turn around, but find that you cannot go any further. Standing before you is one of the mighty kings you've heard of. His blood red pelt clings over perfectly toned bands of muscle. But that isn't what causes such fear in your veins. One of his amber eyes has a horrid, bleeding scar across it, and his good eye seems to stare right through you. His face is expressionless, giving off none of his intentions. You cower away as his jaws part.

"I'm Hell Demon."

His voice was deep and cut through the air like a hot knife through butter. Right where he left off, another voice picks up from behind you. You whirl around and find yourself facing another male with steely muscles beneath his pelt, which seems to consist of every shade of brown. He had startled you, and you're amazed how you hadn't at all detected his approach.

"And I am Ghost...we're the alphas of Aurora Borealis."

His deep voice was laced thickly with a Native American accent. His own golden eyes are directing a harsh glare your way. Now you're caught in the middle...your breathing has become heavy in your panic and you're not sure which to face.

"You've foolishly trespassed into our territory. You face the one called Hell Demon's whose voice is once more addressing you. Get out, or become a corpse along our border."

It's obvious they mean business. So now it's up to you...take your chances and stay, or heed their warning and waste no time getting out with your life.

She was home. The protective scent of aurora no longer her own, providing her with comfort and security along her travels. With a heavy heart Akina wandered long enough for the familiar surroundings of Aurora Borealis to swallow her up and welcome her home. The girls soft brown eyes had grown brighter over the months she had been without her children. Not a day went by where she did not think of them, pray for them and plead with whatever god who would listen for her to see her little Russia again. Even if the two could never be together all Akina wanted was to know her little girl was safe. By now.. The chocolate painted fox had come to the conclusion that Freedom had no idea what had happened, what had come to occur shortly after he took leave. If he knew Akina was certain he would have returned home to pick up the peices of what was now a broken family. She missed him and hoped he was well while her anger cursed her for wishing him well while she suffered in ways no mother should ever have to.

A sigh fell from the vixens lips and she was glad to be alone. Aurora had grown cold, ruined and quiet as of late. A black cloud seemed to have forced the land in to darkness, perhaps forever plagued with bad luck. In such situations one should move on and steer clear of such superstitious nonesense that could well be true.. But Akina could not. Aurora was her home, a land she had once ruled with little knowledge of alphaship yet her friends stayed beside her, loyal and trusting until the day she stepped down and offered such an honor to one she assumed mightier than she. Sin had grown distant lately and it pulled on the innocent girls heart strings. She missed her friend and if anyone knew what she was going through it was Sin. Akina had looked for her a couple of times only to find herself alone once more. Eventually she came to the conclusion that Sin did not want to be found and truth be told, nor did she.

While Sailuk was forever gone, an understanding Akina had endured a hard time coming to grips with.. There was still hope for Russia. The beautiful little girl was out there somewhere and Akina couldn't lose hope that she was still alive and safe. Perhaps she had been taken in by another female who could not go full term with her own litter.. Perhaps her pup was a blessing to another mother and these very ideas of mystery kept Akinas spirits up, no matter how farfetched they were.

A good hour or so passed in silence, besides the birds that chirped over head reminding Akina she wasn't alone, everything was silent and haunting... And then there was him.

The girls heart leaped to her throat and for a moment Akina had to remind herself to breathe. Was it the shock of seeing another canine that brought on such a reaction? Must have been, right? Chocolate kissed paws stop in their tracks while her scent no doubt rushed over there giving her position away like some naive puppy craving affection. For the first time in a while Akina managed a smile, a genuine smile that only Kong could summon from her. This wasn't the first time she had caught him checking out his own reflection but she truly hoped he didn't see the same as he did last time. Her thoughts drifted to that night in the Caverns. The two had been alone and well out of their comfort zones.. Yet they stayed for whatever reason and shared stories and words of wisdom. "..Kong?" The word was a mere whisper, one he may not have heard at all. Mustering the courage she could Akina pressed on, placing her paws lightly against the ground closing the distance between the two of them.

Was she nervous? Yes.. But for a reason she couldn't understand. The sweet fox waited until she was beside him, close enough to watch her own reflection dance with his own across the glassy surface before seating herself beside him. He was still as handsome as she remembered him to be though he still looked as troubled as ever. Silence filled the twos surroundings until Akina brought it to an end herself. Three words.. It was all she could manage. Her pretty little voice spoke out for his ears alone while her soft gaze continued to find his own in the mirror image of the wolf she had come to care so much for.

"I missed you."
