At the densest section of the forest, there is a brief clearing where a steady flow of water streams down the slippery stone staircase. The water here is cool and refreshing. Staircase Falls has been rumoured to be the place where reality is met by magic; where peaceful spirits dwell. They are rumoured to have healing powers that are used to help the desperately hurt, though no one has experienced this, except for, perhaps, Kaive.

Rapid breathing flowed rather roughly and jaggedly out of control; it came out as a screech as a rusty pipe that had not been blown for many years, her lithe but out of used body slithered in and out, in and out, attempting to run away; she had heard a voice, she had heard a voice and quiet footsteps and she needed to run. That she did, that she did. She didn’t stop until rocks barricaded her from the rest of the wolves. She had no idea which one it was, or if she had only imagined it but in her eyes it was better to be safe than sorry, and certainly better to live. She had no one to look out for her, her pack hardly knew her and the alpha startled her by the sudden change. Yumna strongly disliked change, she hated how it wasn’t the same and that you had to custom yourself to new things, it wouldn’t be the same in the pack; to be honest, she was never really needed there any way, so there wasn’t a problem; no she had no ties and was free to do as she wished; or un scary things.

How long had she taken shelter under the rocks? Had it been a long time, no it couldn’t be more than 8 or 9 minutes. Her cranium popped out over her hidey hole just to take a peek, and then shot down with such alertness that she scraped her snout, below her jaw, and grumbled annoyingly. There had been a wolf there; a female wolf, she hadn’t seen any of the expression or heard anything of her but Yumna knew and sensed that it was her, her who was stalking her, her who spoke. She was annoyed at the stranger. Why had she been following her with no introduction, and why had she not just come up in front of her and said a simply greeting; ‘hi.’ Much simpler than ‘slithering’ after her. Sure, Yumna would still have ran, but not as much and certainly she would have only just jumped back slightly – not run and duck for cover. She wanted to march right up there and ask her questions, introduce herself, make a friend which she had been unable to do. It was a pity, because all Yumna wanted to have is someone to care for, caring for her.

Curiosity got the better of her, her snowy appendages testing the rocks, careful not to slip on one that had been sprayed by the liquid she had often retreated to. She slunk forward, lower to the floor than the fae; she didn’t want to receive a bad beating or a terrible mouthful because she did not understand the nature and temperament of this female. I hope she doesn’t think I’m that childish, the pearly coloured girl thought. Her optics twisted around and around, scanning the female with curiosity. She was quite a long way away; a metre and a half perhaps but you couldn’t know for show. Yumna raised her body into a normal posture, her position then changed into a sitting. “Why were you following me, stranger? I see no reason why a wolf would do so. It was rather startling, like someone was stalking me.” She said, ending with a nervous chuckle. Although she attempted being brave and strong, fear still glazed her eyes. Her beautiful blue eyes almost popping out of their sockets. She looked a mess, her fur unattended in some places, most places. “What’s your name? I mean, only if you want to share it.”
