At the densest section of the forest, there is a brief clearing where a steady flow of water streams down the slippery stone staircase. The water here is cool and refreshing.
Staircase Falls has been rumoured to be the place where reality is met by magic; where peaceful spirits dwell. They are rumoured to have healing powers that are used to help the desperately hurt, though no one has experienced this, except for, perhaps, Kaive.

Soft, sweet lyrics flooded her ears but she didn’t mind, in fact she relished them. It made her feel that little bit more alive. His licks and tender words brought her round from the light but she wasn’t out of the danger zone yet. She was so weak that at any moment she could fall asleep and never wake up again but she couldn’t. She just couldn’t leave him. Within what seemed like seconds Amatus returned with three rabbits dangling out of his mouth. As the smell of blood rushed into her nostrils her belly rumbled with an almighty growl. If she didn’t want to eat her belly sure did! It didn’t go unnoticed that the brute was walking funny on one of his paws, and as soon as her energy returned the lass would make sure he was okay but for now she wanted to eat. The brute dropped the bodies in front of the lass before nuzzling her and walking off toward the water. With all her strength the lass lifted her head and ripped a chunk of flesh from one of the rabbits. It was a task but the urge to eat pushed her on. Metal tasting fluid rippled down the lass’ throat and her belly rumbled with joy. Food! It tasted so good and the girl relished every single bit of her first bite. Her teeth ripped and tore the meat, chopping it into small bits. Once small enough the small chunks of flesh slid down her throat becoming a welcome treat for her starving stomach. The taste of her first bite just made her want more and in no time the girl was tucking into the first rabbit.
Half way through the second, small rabbit Yoki’s belly started to become full but she was still very weak. It would take a while for the girl to get back to her normal health- which wasn’t far of what she was now. Her dark pelt was splattered with blood and her paws and muzzle were stained red. Bones and blood surrounded the girl and for a weary traveller the scene would have looked like a massacre, but Yoki didn’t care. All that mattered was her and Amatus- who had now made his way back to the girl. The female looked up from her victim as the brute approached. A smile grew on her maw but she said nothing until he got close to her. Her voice was croaky and she was still fragile but she spoke nether the less. “Amatus! I thought I’d lost you.” The girl started to become overwhelmed with both happiness and sadness and she started to get choked up. Instead the lass nuzzled the brute before turning to face the last rabbit. Carefully she dragged it towards the brute and left it at his feet. She smiled at him and gave him a look as if to say ‘eat with me’ before placing her head on her paws.
The femme waited for the brute to tuck in. She wanted him to eat with her; after all it was his catch. Besides she wouldn’t eat it all anyway. Then she remembered his paw. “Are you okay?” She squeaked as she stared at his paw. “Are you hurt?” She wanted him to be okay. She hated seeing him hurt which, when she thought about it, was probably how he felt about her. The girl could feel energy washing back into her body and moving was becoming easier, although she wouldn’t be going anywhere fast. For now she would rest and wait till she felt well enough to move, which with her knight looking after her, wouldn’t be long.
