The brute's eyes filled with sympathy at the girl, and he trotted closer to her. On the inside, he smirked at her drama, and the lad was impatient to sink his teeth in her neck and drain her of her vital life-giving substance. But he knew he had to wait even more, and his steps pounded on the ground as he walked towards her.
"Who is this brute?"
He asked kindly, gently licking the tear off her cheek. Charcoal nearly shuddered at the taste. It was so, so wonderful. His smile was not genuine--hardly any hint of joy was--yet, it was convincing. He hoped, convincing enough for her to let him shamelessly devour her without question of his 'loyalty to her.' Charcoal was not loyal to anyone, except perhaps his younger sister, and he did not depend on anyone but himself. He would eat, no matter what the cost--with the help of his cunning mind--or he would starve. And he could not let that happen.
