Ok, seriously, someone help me! IP: 68.62.166.116 Posted on September 24, 2012 at 07:39:32 AM by Pierce
I keep pondering and pondering who to be, and the sad truth is, the more I ponder, the harder I make it on myself. I've thought myself into a corner because I have characters I want to BE and I have characters I feel that I NEED to be.
So I would like to open up discussion, in length, as to who I should be and why. Below are my suggestions and the reasoning behind them. Please let me know who you think fits best, and if you have any additional characters, please go into detail as to why. Thanks in advance!
-----------------------------
Iron Man - He's a big character, and the site needs big names right now. I've never been a fan of his comics, but I absolutely loved Robert Downy Jr's portrayal of the character in all three of the movies. I'm not sure I can pull off the humor, but I want to try it. I also love Tony's NPCs. However, I don't really like a lot of The Avengers, so if I went with Tony, I'd avoid most things Avengers (which is lame, I know)
Rogue - I love X-men and I've always wanted to do a mutant properly. Plus I get all of the other mutants as NPCs. I have also loved Rogue's story in the last year in X-men Legacy. She has really developed as a character and her powers being in-control now makes her a complete wildcard which can be a lot of fun. The two major downsides to her are boobs, which I don't normally do, and the language that I would have to pull off. (ie: ya'll, sugah, ah'm)
Shazam! - I've always had a soft spot for this character. He's as powerful as Superman, but with different weaknesses. I love that he's a child, even after he powers up. It allows for amazing stories and character interaction. With the new 52 version of the character, he's around 15 and everything is modernized. So it gives me an opportunity to do things that Billy Batson has never done (computers, ipads, xbox, etc). It'd be interesting to try and take the character to a level where he is a major player and writing that progress could be very fun. The downside is that he's a relative unknown, and there hasn't been a lot of story published for him in the new 52, so I don't know where he is going.
Kid Flash - I'm not gonna lie, this choice is based soley on my love of the Young Justice TV Show. I absolutely love the dynamic of the team and the way the characters are portrayed. Kid Flash is fun, silly, but also very big hearted and can be extremely powerful when he needs to be. This opens up the option of not only doing Titan stuff, but gives me a wide array of NPCs. Downsides are that I don't do good with large teams and I don't care too much for the other Flashes.
Batman - All of you know I love Gotham and if I'm not doing Nightwing again, then Batman is the next logical step. He's also a major player, which SHSD needs in the early stages. Not to mention, if I take the spot, it prevents lesser writers from taking him and writing poorly or offending our eyes. This would give me a chance to RP the Court of Owls which I am absolutely in love with. All of that said, I'm really not sure I want to write Bruce Wayne. I like all the other characters in Gotham better and I don't know if I am good enough to pull him off. Those are rather big shoes to fill (hi Ian!)
Which leads to...
Red Hood - I know Ian, I know! But hear me out...He is a total badass in his new 52 book and they redid his origin so that it's much better. He also gets along with some of the bat-family and so I get the whole dynamic of Gotham without worrying about being "the man." I could RP similar to Nightwing or Robin, but I get to have attitude and use guns and swords. That really entices me. The two downsides are obvious: I'm doing more Gotham stuff and...it's Jason Todd :)

Anyways! There are more options of course, but these are the biggest choice for me right now. So, thoughts? Replies:
