I see via Google maps the only thing left on Skaggs are the pump houses at the back gate and near the former Bldg 21 location. You can see for yourself at the link below. It's really so sad that such a great place couldn't have been re-purposed like NSGA Winter Harbour ME. As I understand it the only thing stopping the island from being flodded is an agreement with the Haire family (they own the hay farm at the back gate). The agreement dating to 1945 forces the U.S. Government to maintain and operate the pumps which keep the island from flooding. To the Haier family, I say Bravo Zulu!
