At the densest section of the forest, there is a brief clearing where a steady flow of water streams down the slippery stone staircase. The water here is cool and refreshing. Staircase Falls has been rumoured to be the place where reality is met by magic; where peaceful spirits dwell. They are rumoured to have healing powers that are used to help the desperately hurt, though no one has experienced this, except for, perhaps, Kaive.

Prince Charming? How alarming?

Amatus looked with mild interest as she struggled against her yearning to go back to sleep and away from pain and sadness. He resisted the urge to laugh – though it would not been anything in a serious or ‘mean’ way, he did not know for sure how she would take it and especially not in her state of mind. So he simply looked at her with a gentle smile as she moved closer to the water. He watched with an alert expression (for he did not want the water to change suddenly.) as the liquid caressed her feet whilst drinking the water in a rather fast and unsettling pace. He watched her intently for a few moments, often reaching down to take a few laps of water or decide on a new position to stand or to sit. He never stayed still for too long, always hovering or checking rapidly every time he forgot to make sure Yoki was alright. And for a while it was quiet until he started talking about packs, about ruling one or at least joining one… He understood he would never actually be a leader but it was a pleasant thought, but joining one? – Easy.
He gulped at the way her eyes seemed to bulge at the fact of joining a pack – he knew instantly he had touched on a personal note. Then to put with it, she gave an explanation of her appearance. She told him that she wasn’t ready but a few hesitant moments later told him that she would go anywhere with him. He sighed gently, and licked the top of her head in a brief and yet swift action. “No, Yoki.” He said, a gentle and soothing voice talking. “If, you are not ready then we won’t join a pack – we’ll have to see, however, how you feel after growing a bit stronger. Besides, I shall never push you forward – if by chance we live as solitary wolves then so be it. I shall not rush into anything, I shall not push you into anything and I will never leave unless you tell me to.” He finished, looking over her – a stab of pity burrowing deeper and deeper into his heart. He was fidgeting all awhile when speaking this, before settling fairly close but in a lying-up right on his side. She was so vulnerable… perhaps it had been inconsiderate – mean?

The youthful brute leaped into the slowing water; he was done with the serious talk – he was still young and yet he had acted like the elderly wolf, staying calm and secure… Honestly however; he just wanted to play. With a small ‘yip’ he kicked back with his hind legs – splashing water into Yoki’s face. “Come one; loosen up. Playing is a key thing in life, it’ll help you laugh and after all laughter is the best medicine.” He exclaimed, his legs were not lanky but he stumbled more than once whilst burrowing his snout and legs into the liquid.
After a few moments of being a fool, Amatus slumped, breathless, onto the boggy side with a wide smile sprouting across his face. “Right, we’ll move off tomorrow, where’d you fancy going my dear?” He asked with a small wink. But soon off a more of a serious tone soon spread across his face. “Yoki…” He began, “what ever happened to you in the past, whatever made you weak like this, you’ve got to remember that it will never happen to you again – not while I’m around. So while I’m still alive, you are safe.” He licked her forehead gently.
