Yankee Rose

Yankee Rose moves gracefully, the tall white and crimson girl’s paws sending her towards the river. Romance River, to be exact. She had never ventured that far, and now she was a bit skittish, side stepping the rustle of bushes and leaping out of her skin whenever she hear a loud noise. She darted out of the forest, ears flat to her head as she raced through the brambles, leaving tufts of white fur. Her crimson splashed paws skitter backwards as they touch chilled water and she yelps, falling on her rump. This reveals the little splash of crimson on her belly. She stares at her reflection, confusion coloring her dark navy orbits. The creature in front of her was absolutely lovely. Snow colored fur, though matted, clung to her lithe frame like a second skin. She saw the slashes of crimson on her paws and stomach and chest, stark against her white fur. And her eyes, oh her eyes, they were deep and beautiful, a lovely navy shade that questioned much. She took a deep breath and stepped into the chilly water. It froze her bones and she stood, still as the stones she saw cross the broad river, before wading deeper. Her pup side ventured out and soon she was splashing through the chilly water, her laughter bubbling out of her. Her tail never stops wagging as she frolics and the matting disperses from her snowy coat.

She splashes for a while, until she finally grows tired. She plucks a fish from the river, since they are plentiful here, and then wanders along the wide river’s edge, searching for a place to rest. She notices a grey and white male and she inches forward, but restrained herself, as he seemed to be asleep. She settled herself upon a large boulder in the middle of the river. It was fairly easy to get up, and she wasn’t actually getting wet. She devoured the fish within moments and then leapt down again to get three more fish out of the water. She leapt up again, and resumed her devouring. She swallowed the last bite of the last one and her stomach grumbled once again. She frowned, but fished out six more. It was rather easy, actually. She devoured two more, and that finally settled her hunger. She licked her lips to remove the scraps then moved down to the water. She lapped up the water, slurping up the clear water. She lifted her head and noticed the young male awakening.

She leapt up, grabbed the fish, than leapt down. She moved quickly through the water, keeping her head up, and swam to the other side. “Hi.” She mumbled. ”I thought you might be hungry. You’ve been asleep for a while.” She nodded shyly at him, her eyes bright as she takes in his grey and white frame.
